He sped to Alexander's office building, expecting to find him in a meeting. Learning Alexander worked remotely, Mike sought help contacting his secretary, only to discover Alexander wasn't in the office. He received no information about Alexander's whereabouts. Stepping out into the setting sun, Mike felt profoundly helpless.

"Rick took Lily, and I can't reach Alexander. If something happens to Lily, I won't forgive myself!"

His phone rang. Seeing Alexander's number, he answered excitedly. "You finally returned my call!"

Alexander's voice was husky. "What happened?"

Returning to his bedroom, Alexander saw dozens of missed calls from Mike. The sheer frequency and urgency alerted him to a critical situation. Worried, he gripped his phone tighter.

"Something terrible happened!" Mike said gravely. He briefly recounted the events, concluding, "I'm sorry. I failed to protect her."

"What's the point of apologizing?" Alexander's voice, though calm, concealed his anger. He knew losing his temper would be unproductive. "Where did she go?"

"I have no idea..." Mike's shame was palpable. "You know I can't reach the higher-ups. They're too cunning; I have no idea where Rick took her."

Alexander clenched his teeth. "You..."

Mike's voice cracked. "I know it's my fault. I'll find her, but my network isn't as strong as yours. It's best to use your men to locate Lily. If Rhea is right..." He trailed off.

Rhea's statement had shocked him, and he couldn't imagine the impact on Alexander.

"Rhea Moore..." Alexander's eyes narrowed. "Mike, return to the research facility immediately!"
