Lily's mind raced, finding the answer. "Was it Dr. Blanc?"
Her raised brows and Alexander's expression revealed all.
"Damn it!" she exclaimed. Astonishment filled her. "Dr. Blanc is something else, isn't he? He repeatedly told me to keep it a secret, emphasizing the severity, yet he told you! How can someone with such a big mouth hold such an important, confidential position?" she grumbled angrily. "I wish Dr. Blanc were here so I could give him a piece of my mind!"
Alexander chuckled softly. "Don't blame Dr. Blanc. He didn't tell anyone else. It's a three-way secret."
"What do you mean?" Lily asked, puzzled.
"He needs to cooperate with you and La Beaute Group simultaneously," Alexander explained. "Don't forget, La Beaute Group won the previous vaccine development project. We're always involved when the country needs us. La Beaute Group has made significant contributions, and Secretary Rollins's recent unusual behavior hasn't gone unnoticed by the higher-ups. However, his illness has put the matter on hold for now."
"Secretary Rollins's case is..." Lily began, hesitantly defending Cameron.
Alexander raised his hands. "I know, but the higher-ups don't. They aren't planning to report it yet. Let's discuss this after he's detoxified and recovered. If this continues, I'm afraid I won't be able to keep it hidden much longer." He understood the pressure Lily felt; people rarely choose to be saviors; the situation usually forces them. He pitied her, but understood the government's predicament even more.
"It won't be long," Lily said meaningfully, glancing at the concoction table.
Two divorce papers lay on the table; Olivia lightly pressed them with one hand. "I'm not divorcing you! Don't even think about it!"
Edward, in a foul mood, looked livid and dispirited, a shadow of his former self. "At this point, it's meaningless to drag this out," he said.
Olivia felt distressed but couldn't bear to confront him. "You're not the only one who gets a say on what's meaningless," she retorted. "You begged me to marry you. If you want a divorce, fine. Beg me!"
"Okay, I beg you. Let's get divorced!" Edward declared unexpectedly.
Olivia stared, shocked, tears welling. "You... What did you say?" she whispered, leaning forward. "Repeat it."
"Don't be like this. You know I don't change my mind," Edward said flatly, gaze downcast.
Olivia took a deep breath. "Fine! Then know I won't change mine either! I've always believed in you, Edward. That hasn't changed, and it won't! Have you thought about our baby and me? How can you ask for a divorce now? Even our child wouldn't agree! What are you doing, Edward? If someone's convinced you, tell me. Who's forcing you? Why?" she asked sadly. "If someone's threatening him, who is it, and why can't he tell me?"
