Chapter 1639

With Alexander's arrangement, Debbie was quickly assigned to a VIP room upstairs, next to his. The difference was minimal, a mere sense of novelty. Children were simple and pure; they needed little. For Debbie, all she needed was her doll, Lily.

"Lily, why are we moving rooms?" Debbie asked, her large eyes blinking.

"The man next door wants you to be more comfortable. Do you like this room?" Lily asked warmly.

"I do!" Debbie nodded. "But the other room was nice too!"

Lily felt a surge of emotion at the child's pure smile. She was embarrassed by the disparity between the upstairs and downstairs rooms, but the children seemed unconcerned.

"Did you take your medicine like a good girl?" Lily touched Debbie's head lightly. She'd just checked the child's pulse; recovery was progressing well. Full recovery wouldn't be long. Howeverโ€ฆ

"Lily, can I go next door?" Debbie asked softly. "Am I still not allowed?"

This snapped Lily back to reality. "What do you want to do next door?" she asked curiously.

To prevent cross-infection, patients were not permitted to visit each other; everyone had to remain in their room. This isolation caused depression in some patients, leading to requests for psychological support.

"I want to go next door to thank the man," Debbie said, her childish voice filled with sincerity.

Lily chuckled. "It's okay. I've already thanked him for you. Just take your medicine obediently and listen to the doctor. You getting better is the best thank you."

"I will!" The little girl smiled, hugging her doll. She seemed no different from any ordinary child.

Lily straightened, bid the child goodbye, and headed to Alexander's ward. Alexander had just closed his eyes when he heard a noise. Turning, he saw Lily entering.

"Are you bored?" she asked.

No electronic devices were allowed. While the room had a television, all he could watch were news programs and a limited selection of shows. The television was useless to someone accustomed to the internet. However, he had no choice; this was a specialized department. Staff signed confidentiality agreements, and admitted patients were under close observation. Many patients were present, but none knew the reason for the intense scrutiny. They only knew they were receiving specialized treatment. The technology was advanced enough to easily track mobile phone signals; hacking into phones to discover information was simple. Therefore, for confidentiality, communication devices were prohibited. Alexander was no exception.

He smiled understandingly. "It's fine." His calm demeanor and apparent control brought tranquility to Lily.
