"Is our son okay?" Alexander asked, his concern evident.
"I left him in a safe place for now. He's fine," Lily replied.
"He's not at home?" Alexander's surprise was clear.
"No," she shook her head, then paused. "By the way, there's something concerning about Daisy."
"The new nanny?" Alexander frowned thoughtfully. "Didn't I do a background check and find nothing amiss? What happened? What did she do?" He had personally hired Daisy to care for his son; any issue with her jeopardized his child's safety. Only those passing his stringent background checks were allowed in his home. A dangerous individual near his son would be a serious problem.
"She didn't do anything," Lily clarified, shaking her head. Though she'd delayed addressing the matter, her suspicions of Daisy had grown. "Your son learned something from her," she said, glancing at Alexander helplessly.
"What did he learn?" Alexander asked, puzzled.
"Lock picking."
"Lock picking?!" His confusion deepened.
Lily nodded seriously. She explained the situation, omitting Dominic's involvement. Alexander was stunned.
"You're saying Galen picked a lock with a thin rope?" His eyes widened in disbelief.
"Yes," Lily confirmed, understanding his shock. She'd been equally astonished.
After a moment's daze, Alexander slammed the table. "My son is a genius!"
Lily chuckled softly. "No, the problem is where he saw Daisy pick a lock, and why she was picking locks in our house. It wasn't listed on her resume, and our initial background check revealed nothing. I later had someone recheck."
"What was the result?"
"The same. Daisy has no bad record."
That made it even more suspicious. Who had such a flawless resume? The more perfect it was, the more suspicious it became. What was Daisy hiding?
"That's right!" Alexander agreed. "The Russell family has an outstanding IT team. There's no way they wouldn't uncover something like that. Daisy must have hired someone to erase anything incriminating, leaving only what she wanted us to see."
Lily nodded in agreement. "There's too much going on for me to deal with her now. So, I decided to fire her. I can't leave my son with someone unpredictable."
"You're right," he agreed. "So, where's Galen now?"
