Chapter 1521

It felt strange, as if Lily had emerged from the darkest abyss into a sunlit world. Leaving the research institute, she stepped outside. Her bodyguards, having seen her, hurried over.

"Ma'am!"

Lily nodded slightly. "Did anything happen while I was gone?"

"No," the bodyguards replied, shaking their heads. She nodded again. "Let's go."

She glanced back at the building, bathed in dazzling sunlight. Instead of warmth, however, it evoked a chilling sensation.

Shortly after, Dominic called, his voice laced with concern. "Lily, are you alright?"

"I'm fine," she replied, rubbing her brow. She felt tired, and a gentle stirring in her tummy indicated restless twins. Palming her abdomen, she soothed them, feeling a weight settle upon her.

"Good. You scared me half to death! Why did you hang up? Oh, yes, what happened to that brat, Austin?" Dominic hurried on. "I just called his parentsโ€ฆ"

"Old man, let's talk later, okay? I'm tired and need to rest," Lily interrupted.

"Oh, okay. Rest well. We'll talk later," Dominic said, sensing something was amiss and falling silent.

Instead of going home, Lily went straight to Dominic's estate. Exiting the car, she carefully surveyed her surroundings, leaving her phone in the vehicle and taking a new one inside. As she entered, a small figure launched himself at her.

"Mommy!"

His soft body offered immense comfort. Lily bent and kissed him heartily on both cheeks. "Honey bunny, you're such a good boy!"

The toddler, pleased with his mother's praise, puckered up for another kiss.

"Tsk! Little sycophant," Dominic grumbled. "So violent with me, yet you kiss and lick your mommy like a puppy!"

"Woof, woof!" Galen barked playfully, nuzzling Dominic then kissing his cheek, brightening the old man's day. "You cute little thing!" Dominic chuckled.

After showering her son with affection, Lily addressed the serious matter. "Galen, go play. Mommy and Grandpa need to talk."

"Okay," Galen replied, obediently leaving them.

Dominic knew Lily faced a significant problem. Her usual casual demeanor was replaced by a growing burden.

"What's wrong? Why aren't you going to Burnwken anymore? Did something happen?" Dominic poured her a calming tea, speaking casually.

"Old man, Alex is back." Dominic was her confidant, the only person she could confide in without worry. Surprised, he tentatively asked, "He's not doing well?"
