Chapter 1485

"I worked with him for a considerable time," Lily said blandly. "Although we had our differencesโ€”he was a senior, and he devised the experimentโ€”his death saddens me."

"Oh?" Rhea raised her eyebrows, curiosity evident. "Differences? In what aspect?"

"About the experiment," Lily replied, meeting Rhea's gaze steadily.

"The experiment? Didn't you say Professor Thompson devised it, and you respected him? Oh, yes. I heard you left the lab. Is that true?" Rhea asked.

"Yes," Lily nodded. "Since we couldn't see eye to eye, and our differences would only worsen if I stayed, I left."

Rhea looked astonished. "What kind of irreconcilable differences? The experiment seems to be progressing smoothly. I heard you're competent, but could you have been wrong? At least, the experiment is showing good results now!"

Lily's eyes narrowed. "What do you mean by 'good results'? Have you conducted experiments on the poisonous herbs?"

Rhea burst out laughing. "I'm sorry. Although you contributed much to the lab, I can't discuss classified information since you're no longer with us."

Lily waited until Rhea's laughter subsided, then curtly replied, "That's understandable."

"Then, may I ask what kind of differences you had with Professor Thompson?" Rhea pressed.

"Differences about the experiment's very foundation," Lily said, glancing over her shoulder at the bustling research institute. Those white-coated people move around in a hurry, and everything looks the same as usual. It doesn't matter if I stay here or not. Even Professor Thompson's death wouldn't have the slightest impact on this place. Life goes on.

"For example?" Rhea's interest remained undeterred.

Lily fixed her gaze on Rhea. "For example, I believe the experiment should cease, and the lab should be immediately disbanded, with all data and samples destroyed."

"Are you satisfied with my answer, Ms. Moore?"

Rhea smiled. "Are you upset? I'm just curious, and I like to get to the bottom of things. Why should the experiment stop? Oh, and I also heard you tried to destroy the lab data. I wrongly assumed that's why you were dismissed."

"You're truly a curious person," Lily nodded. "Curiosity fuels science; innovation requires relentless questioning. I have a question for you."

"Oh?" Rhea was intrigued.

"What is it? I must say upfront that I can't discuss anything about the experiment," Rhea cautioned.

"Of course. I just want to ask about someone," Lily said casually.
