Chapter 1484

However, Lily only looked at her. The woman curled her lips.

"I'm Rhea Moore. You might not have seen me before, but I've heard about you," she said. After a pause, she added, "I've been looking forward to meeting you for a long time."

Lily considered this for a moment, then got into the passenger seat. Her bodyguards outside were worried.

"Ma'am..." they began, but she held up a hand. "It's okay. You guys wait here, and I'll be out soon," she said solemnly.

Glancing at Lily's bodyguards, Rhea chuckled. "I heard you married a rich man, huh? No wonder you're accompanied by bodyguards, unlike ordinary people like us."

"Those who have access to the laboratory are no ordinary people, including you, Ms. Moore," Lily replied meaningfully.

Rhea smiled, then drove through the gate and parked. She didn't get out immediately, but instead unbuckled her seatbelt, retrieved two bottles of water from the back seat, and handed one to Lily.

Lily took the bottle but didn't open it. Rhea opened hers and took a few sips without comment.

"How did you find out about Professor Thompson's accident?" Rhea suddenly asked, turning her head.

"The lab received the news," Lily replied. "The police informed the lab." Lily had expected the police to contact the university and laboratory, unable to reach the professor's family. However, Rhea's question surprised her; it seemed the woman hadn't known.

"I happened to be at the hospital," Lily said casually, glancing at Rhea.

Rhea, holding her bottle, stared ahead indifferently, a half-smile playing on her lips. "You don't seem to be sad at all."

"Why should I be?" Lily responded.

Rhea looked over her shoulder. "Because of Professor Thompson?" she asked, her tone justified.

Lily didn't answer, simply looking at her. "Shouldn't you be?" Rhea pressed, adding, "I'm not close to him."

Rhea chuckled, appearing helpless. "Although we worked in the same lab, and Professor Thompson was highly respected, we weren't personally close. Of course, I feel a little uncomfortable that this happened," she said, holding her thumb and forefinger close together to emphasize the smallness of her feeling. "But he's old, and nothing is permanent in this world, so I feel a little sorry for him. But to feel bad about it..."

She paused, glanced at Lily, and laughed. "I don't like to lie, so I must admit I'm not upset."

Her candid lack of sympathy left Lily speechless. Lily sighed quietly, saying nothing.

"You, however, look rather sad. Are you close to Professor Thompson?" Rhea asked.
