Chapter 1472

The car headed toward the estate, gradually entering a desolate stretch of road. It was empty, with almost no cars or people in sight. Lily didn't drive fast on such a road, but a car followed at a moderate distance, catching her attention. She hadn't minded at first, but whether she turned or braked, the car remained behind, maintaining the same distance, neither overtaking nor veering off.

Knitting her brow, she felt something was wrong and glanced over her shoulder at her son, safely secured in his child safety seat. "Galen, sit tight! Mommy's going to speed up," she said, half-jokingly, unwilling to alarm him.

"Okay!" He nodded sharply, gripping the seatbelt.

Lily looked at him, then at the car in the rearview mirror. She accelerated, and the car sped forward. The car behind followed suit, tailing them. Someone was indeed after her. Being alone with her son on a quiet road, she felt nervous, unsure of the pursuer's identity.

Driving anxiously, she made a call using the car's Bluetooth. Fortunately, Dominic answered, his lazy voice saying, "What's the matter? Do you miss me?"

"Old man, I'm bringing Galen to your place now, about 0.3 miles down Eastern Road."

"You're coming again? You—" Before he could grumble, she anxiously interrupted, "Someone's following me. A black car's chasing us, and I have no idea who it is." Hearing this, Dominic's tone shifted to seriousness. "It's just you and your son?"

"Yes."

"Wait. I'll send someone immediately," Dominic said.

"Don't hang up, okay?"

The line buzzed as Dominic instructed someone to go to her; a car started. Lily felt calmer. She was confident handling herself alone, but her son's presence necessitated caution.

"Is the car still following you?" Dominic asked.

"Yes!" Galen answered, his voice innocent but surprisingly excited, not scared. Lily was surprised.

"Hey, little guy, aren't you afraid?" Dominic asked, amused.

Galen said, "Nope!"

"Good boy! Don't be scared, okay? Grandpa's sending people. If there are any bad guys, my people will take care of them!"

"Okay! Keep it up, Grandpa!"

Dominic laughed. Lily was speechless. We're the ones who need encouragement! she thought. Still, she was relieved. At least her son wasn't frightened and was handling the situation remarkably well.

Taking another glance at the rearview mirror, she tensed again.
