Chapter 1394

"Now, don't overthink it. It might not be the maids."

Lily paused, as if to change the subject, then asked, "By the way, you don't like flowers or plants, and you don't know much about medicinal herbs. Why do you have so many potted plants at home?"

Anastasia, still upset, replied mechanically, "My aunt sent them. She said I'm unhealthy and don't go out much, so more greenery is good for me. She said being surrounded by plants lifts one's mood and they produce oxygen. But it hasn't helped..."

She seemed to remember something, raising her head to look at Lily. "Could it be those plants? Could my aunt be trying to poison me? No! That's impossible! She nags and says hurtful things, but she cares about me. Even my cousin was jealous when we were children, thinking my aunt loved me more."

"I'm not accusing your aunt. It doesn't necessarily have anything to do with the plants."

Lily, fearing Anastasia would spiral further, quickly said, "Enough about this. I'm still unsure what's poisoning you, but don't be scared. I'm working on a detox. Listen to me, I can cure you!"

Anastasia barely listened; "poisoned" echoed in her head. She was dazed until she heard Lily's final word, "cure."

It was as if struck by lightning; she returned to her senses. "Can it really be cured?" she asked cautiously.

"Of course!" Lily nodded. Anastasia needed reassurance. Lily added, "However, you must be disciplined. Eat well, rest enough, and get rid of all the flowers and plants in your house and garden."

"Okay!" Anastasia nodded, trusting Lily completely.

A moment later, she found it strange. "Didn't you say the poisoning isn't related to the plants? Why dispose of them?"

"I don't know if it's related, but your house is packed! It might be stuffy with all those plants. If you want, keep a few simple ferns."

After a pause, Lily said, "Bring them to me. I have a place to keep them. Maybe I can use them for my research if they're useful."

"All right!" Anastasia nodded repeatedly, now agreeing with everything Lily said. "I'll listen to you! I trust you!" she emphasized, apologetic for doubting Lily.

Seeing Anastasia's anxiety, Lily put down her silverware. "Tasia, don't worry. I know you've struggled to lose weight. Besides wrong methods, it's not entirely your fault. The poison might have affected you without your knowledge. The toxins might be too complex for a general practitioner to detect.

"Now that we know the problem, solving it won't be an issue. You'll get better!" Lily said with certainty. "You're still young. Don't worry! Keep a calm mind, understand?"

Her words were gentle yet powerful. Anastasia calmed down. Looking at Lily, she was no longer flustered.

"By the way, about your poisoning..."

Lily initially wanted to tell Anastasia not to tell her aunt about the plants, but Austin might have already mentioned it. "Will your aunt object if you give the plants to me?"

"No! They're mine; she already gave them to me! I don't think she cares much. She never asked about them after delivery. A few died, and she didn't ask about those either," Anastasia replied.

"She probably wouldn't notice a few, but if they're all gone, she'll ask."

"You mean..." Anastasia finally understood.
