Chapter 1360
"Ree, do you know what time it is? Why are you still experimenting? You're back, but you're rarely home. You're out so much I barely see you," Maria said.
The voice on the other end remained calm.
"Even if I were home, how often would you see me?"
Maria was speechless. Rhea was right; Maria herself was rarely home, often out playing cards with friends or shopping. Lately, she'd been preoccupied with a certain miracle doctor and frequently visited Cameron's house.
"Then let's go shopping when you're back. Don't spend your days stuck in the lab. What's there to do there? How can you find a boyfriend if you lock yourself up? You're not young anymore; if you don't start thinking about your future, I'll have to step in! Are any boys chasing you?"
Maria had raised this subject again. The call fell silent. Maria, thinking the connection had dropped, checked the line.
Just as she was about to speak, Rhea's voice returned. "Is there anything else? Otherwise, I'll hang up."
"Hey, don't hang up!" Maria quickly protested. "You're like this every time I mention your future. You're young and beautiful, just back from overseas. You should marry into a wealthy family, let them pamper you. Don't let those good-for-nothing men sway you. I'll help you find a suitable husband!"
"I'm hanging up!"
"All right, all right! I won't talk about it anymore." Maria knew her daughter's temper and swiftly changed the subject. "So, what have you been up to lately?"
A faint cough came through the phone. Then Rhea softly said, "Mum..."
"Yes, dear?"
"Do you understand what I'm talking about?"
"Huh?" Maria was confused.
Rhea, unsurprisingly, didn't wait for an answer. "Did you go to Uncle Cameron's house again today?"
"Yeah, how did you know?" Maria, relieved to finally have a shared topic, continued, "Your uncle wasn't home, he's so busy. As for your cousin, she's getting quite fat! I think she's overdoing it!"
"Did Tasia continue seeing the doctor?" Rhea asked.
