Chapter 1346

"You seem to know a lot about Lily, Granduncle," Austin said, his gaze fixed on Dominic. Dominic's unusual excitement surprised him. He'd never reacted this way to mentions of his grandfather or parents. Only Lily elicited this hesitant, emotional response.

"Do I?" Dominic raised an eyebrow, determined to avoid admitting anything. "I'm just interested in your experiment! I enjoy watching you fail."

Austin was speechless for a moment. "I'm your grandson!" he whined.

"Cut the crap!" Dominic held up a hand, widening the distance between them. "I'm alone, without children. How could I have grandchildren?"

"That's why I treat you like my grandfather. In the future, I'll take care of you and manage yourโ€”"

Dominic interjected, "Stop that! Funeral, my ass! Even if there is one, it'll be for your grandpa. I can live to be two hundred! I haven't seen enough of this world!"

"Y-You're right. Two hundred. I justโ€ฆ I treat you like my grandfather, so how could you side with an outsider? Or are you closer to Lily? Who is she, really?"

"What outsider? Work is work. I don't give a damn who you are!" Dominic rolled his eyes. "You're not brilliant, yet you used my name to scam people! How dare you look down on anyone? You're suffering a loss now, aren't you? Stop being so arrogant and conceited!"

"Granduncle, when have I ever looked down on anyoneโ€ฆ" Austin, while slightly conceited, didn't consider himself arrogant. He knew others surpassed him, but never Lily.

"Don't you look down on women?"

Austin choked. He was speechless.

"What's wrong with you, punk? Your grandfather and father aren't patriarchal, so how did you turn out this way? You look down on women? How could you face your mother? Fortunately, your grandmother passed away early. Otherwise, would you look down on her too?" Dominic, initially wanting to avoid this, couldn't help but nag. He'd watched Austin grow up; the boy was intelligent, but where had he learned this behavior? It hadn't mattered before, as he hadn't seen Austin daily.

"Granduncle, it's not that I look down on women. I think men and women have different responsibilities and should do their jobs well!" Austin explained. He didn't consider himself misogynistic, but disliked women who overstepped boundaries or didn't perform their duties well. He found fault with Lily because he believed the lab wasn't her place, and she hogged the spotlight.

"Different jobs?" Dominic scoffed, giving Austin a sideways glance. "Tell me. What are their jobs, and what aren't they?"

Austin, surprised but confident, answered, "Since ancient times, men worked in business, while women stayed home. If men worked hard to support the family, women should be obedient, managing the homeโ€”cooking, caring for children. That's what women should do. They shouldn't compete with men or fight when they disagree!"
