Chapter 1311

"I know that," Alexander said casually, showing little reaction. Everyone in Kingsland knows about Secretary Rollins's spoiled daughter. She's overweight and has a volatile temper. The other girls don't socialize with her.

He found it strange, then, that Lily was in contact with Anastasia, and that Anastasia had even given his wife an expensive gift. Lily, however, was different. "Spoiled her too much..." Lily repeated, sighing softly.

"You don't think so?"

"Perhaps he loves her, but in the wrong way," Lily explained, her emotions clearly stemming from her visit to Cameron's. "What did you see?"

"It's nothing. I just want to ask you something. What if Gale becomes as overweight as Ms. Rollins? How would you treat him?" Lily asked, gesturing toward their son in his high chair. Alexander's gaze involuntarily followed. The little boy, oblivious to his parents' musings, was diligently learning to eat independently, struggling with a forkful of spaghetti.

Patter!

It fell back onto his plate, splattering sauce on his face. Alexander was speechless.

Galen, inheriting his parents' striking features, was an adorable child. Alexander often felt a surge of pride, envisioning his son growing into a man even more charming than himself. Yet, hearing Lily's question, he couldn't help but picture Galen with Anastasia's physique.

He stared at Galen's innocent face. Galen looked up, smiled, revealing two tiny teeth. Suddenly, Alexander felt a pang of guilt. The very thought terrified him. Shaking his head, he exclaimed, "No way!"

"Hey, I said 'what if'," Lily said, gently stroking Galen's head. She, too, found the scenario improbable, but it was merely a hypothetical question.

"There's no 'what if'!" Alexander insisted. "There's no way my son would ever get that out of control!"

"Do you think Secretary Rollins thought it was possible?" Lily asked. "Could he have imagined Anastasia so overweight as an infant?"

Alexander hesitated. "No, it's not like that," he said, raising a hand. "Lily, we're talking about someone else. Let's not involve our son, alright?"

Though Galen could be jealous, vying for Lily's attention or deliberately provoking Alexander, he was still his son. Alexander couldn't bear to imagine him overweight; the thought filled him with guilt.

They abandoned that line of conversation. Lily sipped her red wine. "I just want to say Secretary Rollins bears significant responsibility for Anastasia's current state. I'm not sure what you define as 'spoiling her too much,' but I think he controls her excessively, and he's losing control over that."

She recounted the cake incident. Alexander frowned, picking up a piece of steak to feed her. "From what you've told me, I don't see anything wrong. His tone might have been harsh, but his intentions were good. It's only right for an overweight person to manage their diet. Letting her be will only make things worse."

"The problem is that he has good intentions!" Lily interrupted, taking a bite of steak.

"Everyone knows he's doing it for Anastasia's benefit. That's why they think there's nothing wrong, just like you said. Perhaps Anastasia doesn't see anything wrong with it either."

Alexander was perplexed. "Then what's the problem?"
