Chapter 1293

That evening, Alexander picked Lily up as usual and they went home together. After settling into the car, Lily noticed a large, exquisitely packaged box tied with a ribbon in the back seat. Smirking, she teased, "Which girl are you giving a gift to?"

"Are there other girls worthy of my gifts besides you?" Alexander asked, glancing at her fondly.

"There's no occasion," Lily said, delighted but curious. "Why did you get me a present?"

"What is it?" he prompted.

"Who said there's no occasion? Have you forgotten what day it is?" Alexander challenged.

Lily was perplexed. She mentally ruled out their wedding anniversary, birthdays, and even their son's birthday. Checking her phone's calendar, she found no marked events.

"You can't remember?" Alexander asked.

Lily blinked innocently, silent. Alexander sighed, a little deflated. "Today marks the 800th day since our marriage."

Lily was speechless. "800?" While a little over two years didn't seem like a significant milestone, she questioned his counting method. "If 800 is an anniversary, what about 900 and 1000? Do we count those?" she asked, counting on her fingers. The sheer number of potential anniversaries astonished her.

Alexander pondered thoughtfully. "We can make that work," he declared solemnly.

Lily nearly yelped. The thought of remembering countless anniversaries overwhelmed her.

Alexander chuckled, rubbing her head. "I'm just teasing. I saw this and thought you might like it, so I bought it as a gift. There's no special occasion."

Relief washed over Lily. She calmed down and her interest in the gift returned. "What is it?"

The box, though small, didn't feel like it held jewelry. Alexander started the car. "Open it and see."

Lily leaned over, hefting the box and glancing at Alexander, who simply smiled. She quickly untied the ribbon. Inside, she found a pair of shoes with soft, comfortable soles.

"Do you like them?" he asked.

"I do!" she exclaimed, genuinely delighted. He always chose perfect gifts. Lily didn't care for jewelry, bags, or clothes; her only passion was fragrance, something Alexander found difficult to navigate without specific direction. These shoes, however, were exactly what she needed.

"I noticed your feet were a little red a few days ago, probably from your shoes," Alexander explained. "I know you don't often buy clothes or shoes, but when I saw these, I thought they'd be perfect, and they seem super comfortable."

Though casual, Lily knew the gift held immense thoughtfulness and care.
