Chapter 1207

"You're poisoned?" Lily cocked her head, frowning as she assessed Heather.

Heather nodded slightly, offering no denial. Few knew of her poisoning; disclosure would be perilous. Chump, aware of the risk, had remained silent, making Heather's revelation to Lily surprising.

After a moment's reflection, Lily declared, "Your twin sister poisoned you, didn't she?"

Heather's shocked gaze shot upwards. "How did you know?"

Only Chump and Ralph knew of Hannah's actions. Chump would never betray the confidence, leaving Lily's deduction inexplicable.

Lily sighed. "It wasn't difficult. Poisoning someone as vigilant as you requires someone trusted, someone you wouldn't guard against. Your sister's appearances when you were absent made the answer obvious."

Heather remained silent for a time, then sighed. "You're truly astute."

"You must have been careless," Lily observed. "But why would your sister poison you? Aren't you siblings?"

Heather chuckled wryly. "She did it for a man. Isn't that ironic?"

Lily's disbelief was palpable. "You're not talking about Alex's youngest uncle, are you?" she asked tentatively.

Heather offered a wan smile in response.

Lily was speechless. "Holy shit! It's him?" she thought. This is unbelievable. Ralph manipulated Hannah into poisoning her own sister!

After a while, Heather said, "I intended to repay your loan of the handbook, but nowโ€ฆ"

"The handbook doesn't exist! My long search proved futile; I've lost my objective." She sighed. "Forget it. You can have him."

Lily, puzzled, watched as Heather gestured. Chump exited, returning moments later, dragging a man by the collar and throwing him to the floor.

Lily gasped. It was Ralph. Gone was his former arrogance; he looked dirty and haggard, his lips cracked and his face wounded.

Seeing Lily, Ralph's eyes darted to Heather. "Heatherโ€”Ms. Riggs, please spare me! Your sister poisoned you; I'm innocent! You can't blame me!" He pleaded anxiously, expecting retribution.
