Chapter 1181
"That's right! I burned my own house. What's the problem?" Ralph repeated Hannah's words.
"That property is still in my name. Even if you wanted to reclaim it, you'd have to navigate legal procedures." Alexander chuckled at Ralph's agitation.
"You know that even if it's your own house, deliberately setting it on fire is illegal, right?" Hannah retorted, her voice unexpectedly eloquent. "What evidence do you have that he deliberately set the house on fire? The house caught fire accidentally. He's been distraught about it!"
Alexander's smile vanished, replaced by a dangerous aura. "Ms. Riggs, do you honestly wish to interfere in our family affairs?"
Hannah stood tall, her fingers curling slightly. "I'm not interested in your family affairs, but when it involves my fiancรฉ, I must care!"
Ralph was moved. In his moment of despair, she stood by him, unwavering in her protection. His heart swelled with gratitude.
"Legal procedures?" Alexander rose. "Do you want to pursue them? You should understand the potential consequences." He looked directly at Ralph, who gritted his teeth, silent for a moment before finally asking, "Are you trying to kill me?"
"I'm not. Your path is your own to choose." Alexander felt he'd said enough. Turning to leave, he paused. "You don't have to follow me, but you can't hide here forever. Uncle Ralph, you're still my uncle, if you want to be."
Initially, Ralph was confused, but the meaning gradually dawned on him. He wanted to go with Alexander, but Hannah grasped his wrist. Alexander left.
As soon as he was gone, Hannah said, "Don't be afraid. He's just trying to intimidate you. No matter how powerful the Russells are, the Riggs family can fight them!"
Ralph smiled wryly. "I'm not trying to discourage you, but while the Riggs have grown, your foundation in Kingsland isn't strong. If the Russells truly wanted to suppress you, I fear you wouldn't withstand it."
Hannah, calm and composed, leaned on him. "So what if the Riggs aren't strong here? Then we'll stay at the Riggs Estate. With my family background, we won't be poor. I don't care about anything else as long as I'm with you."
She cared only for him, her previous involvement in company affairs stemming from Heather. If the Riggs Group couldn't fight the Russells, Hannah would leave. But Ralph felt differently. He'd lived there for thirty years, knew the city intimately. Leaving would make him a stranger.
