Chapter 1176

The door creaked open, releasing a musty odor. Ralph quickly covered his nose, his eyes widening at the unbelievable scene before him. A single light bulb illuminated the small dungeon, revealing only a bed in the corner. A person lay upon it, their face obscured by the dim light. He recognized them instantly.

"Is that your sister?" Ralph asked softly, turning to Hannah.

Though his voice was quiet, the drowsy Heather heard, her brow furrowing. "Who's there?!"

Hannah smiled at Ralph before stepping inside. "My dear sister, it's me, of course. Still hoping for a rescue at this point?"

"You think you've won," Heather sneered.

"I know I've won. Do you think you'll get another chance, Heather? Don't be foolish. Your lifespan now depends entirely on my whim."

"Why don't you kill me then? You wouldn't dare," Heather mocked, her tone cold. Even in her weakened state, her arrogance remained unwavering.

"Kill you now? I haven't tortured you enough yet! I want you to savor the life I've lived for all these years. I want you to feel what it's like to endure each day as I have!" Hannah hissed.

Heather coughed. "You're the one who failed. Natural selection is cruel, but it's never wrong. I saved your life, and this is how you repay me?!"

"You saved my life?!" Rage surged through Hannah. She lunged forward, grabbing Heather's hair and yanking her head up. "How dare you say that?! We're both our parents' daughters. Why should I die? They brought me into this world, and I have the right to live! None of you have the right to decide that for me! I can survive on my own!"

Heather felt a sharp pain in her scalp, a humiliation unlike any she'd ever known. When she opened her eyes, she saw a ferocious Hannah.

Hannah, who had never dared to defy Heather before, now held her in this degrading position. Heather's eyes widened as she glimpsed someone at the basement doorโ€”Ralph, frozen in shock. He'd never seen Hannah like this. He almost couldn't tell the sisters apart.

He recalled his own thwarted plot against Alexander. Now, he felt trapped in a horrifying scene.

"What are you looking at?! Happy to see me like this? You worthless bastard and useless bitch! You two are a perfect match! Made in hell!" Heather gritted her teeth, spitting in Hannah's face.

"Who are you calling a bitch?!"

Hannah, enraged by the spit, slapped Heather hard across the face. Her head snapped to the side, and Ralph finally realized Heather was paralyzed. He'd feared she might attack him. Seeing her helpless, his fear subsided, and he began to approach.

He stood by her bedside, staring down at the haggard, humiliated Heather Riggs. This was a side of her heโ€™d never witnessed.

"I never expected you to fall so low," he said, his voice heavy with emotion. Every game has a winner and a loser. That's life. Despite his health and shelter, he felt no better than her. They were both losers. The thought weighed heavily on him.
