Chapter 1168

Something inside Hannah snapped. She relentlessly slapped Heatherโ€™s face until the womanโ€™s cheeks were swollen and she could barely speak. Hannah didn't stop until exhaustion overcame her. Her palms were red and swollen when she finally lowered her hands.

A strange exhilaration flooded Hannah. She had never struck anyone before, let alone the sister she most feared.

An inexplicable excitement bubbled up in Heather as she threw back her head and laughed. "I did it! I really did it! From now on, I am Hannah Riggs. I am no longer Heather Riggs's shadow!"

Heather hissed through gritted teeth, "Stopโ€ฆ dreaming!" The burning rage within her remained, despite the difficulty speaking. "You will always be that loser who should have died long ago!"

"No! That person is you! That damned person is you! It's you!"

Heather's words ignited Hannah's fury. She lunged at Heather, grabbing her neck and strangling her. "If our family can only keep one child, you should be dead! Why must I be the one to die? It should be you, a monster! You have no empathy or love, and you only know kickboxing! You should be the one to die!"

Heather coughed violently, gasping for air. Her eyes rolled back as she lost consciousness. Just as she thought she would die, the pressure on her neck released, and a rush of air filled her lungs. She gasped, her head swimming.

Hannah stood, sneering. "Did you think I was going to kill you? No, I won't! At least not yet. I won't let you die easily. I want you to taste the torture you inflicted on me. I want you to live as I have lived. I want you to suffer before you die! Guards!"

Several men burst into the room. Heather opened her eyes to see they were not her men from the island.

"Surprised? Let me tell you a secret. The island isn't the only place to find guards. Money buys loyalty anywhere. Do you really think I was clueless? I easily borrowed money and found trustworthy people. I dealt with your island guards. As for the restโ€ฆ" Hannah smiled. "Thanks to you, they know nothing. And about Chumpโ€ฆ I know heโ€™s your confidant and skilled at kickboxing, so I paid to have himโ€ฆ dealt with. Heโ€™s likely no longer in this world. With his loyalty, I had no choice but to send him to the afterlife to wait for you. That way, youโ€™ll have company when you die!"

Heather stared at her sister, a maniacally laughing stranger. Though their faces were similar, they felt worlds apart.

"Bring her to the basement. No food until I say so," Hannah ordered. She wanted Heather to experience her life. From now on, Hannah would walk in the sun, her true self. She no longer had to bear another's name or live another's identity.

As the guards carried Heather away, she mustered unexpected strength, turning to glare fiercely at Hannah. "Is this because of that man?!"

Hannah's laughter ceased. She remained silent. The men carried Heather away.
