Chapter 1167

Everything happened so suddenly that Heather lacked the strength to resist. After patting her own face several times with Heather's hand, Hannah stopped and spat, "My dear sister, this is how you used to hit me. Of course, you never hit my faceโ€”you needed it forโ€ฆwell, you know. But I'm not afraid of you anymore! I don't have to be you! I want to be myself!"

"Be yourself?" Heather sneered. "Who do you think you are? What do you have? Even our parents barely acknowledge you. To them, Heather Riggs is the only daughter. No one knows Hannah Riggs. You want to be yourself? Wake up, Hannah. You died a long time ago. The Riggs family has one daughter, and that's me, Heather Riggs!"

Heather's words, intended to be forceful, emerged weak and frail. Each sentence felt feeble, yet the anger burning in her eyes threatened to ignite. But this was Hannah's deepest woundโ€”her invisibility. Hannah Riggs never existed; she was nothing. Even her parents wouldn't acknowledge her.

"Nonsense! You're lying!" Hannah yelled frantically, covering her ears.

Seeing Hannah unravel, Heather sneered, "Take a good look in the mirror at how crazy you look. Even if I lie here helpless, try to see if anyone will listen to you. Do you honestly think you can replace me? Wake up! You're just my shadow!"

"Shut up! Shut up!" Hannah screamed hysterically, then slapped Heather hard across the face.

The slap stunned them both. Hannah stared at her hand, disbelieving. After a long moment, Heather growled, her voice trembling, "How dare you hit me?!"

She'd never expected Hannah to dare. It was always the other way around. No one had ever laid a finger on Heather. Even her parents were hesitant. She'd always been outstanding, a source of pride. In her childhood, no one had the heart to strike her; as she grew, no one dared.

Yet, her supposedly dead sister, whom she'd always scorned and abused, had slapped her. The humiliation was almost unbearable; Heather nearly fainted from rage.

But once Hannah recovered from her shock, she laughed, elated. "Haha, that's right! I just hit you! What are you going to do about it? You're not the only one who can hit people, you know? Oh, my dear sister, you should learn to enjoy the feeling!"
