Chapter 375

Kaylaโ€™s period was early again, and just like last month, she bled so heavily that she passed out. By the time Landon arrived, emergency treatment was over.

Kayla was lying there, looking so frail. One couldnโ€™t tell if she was sleeping or had fainted again.

โ€œKaylaโ€ฆโ€ Landon asked worriedly.

โ€œSheโ€™s okay now,โ€ Tuff said, tears welling up in his eyes.

โ€˜This monthly nightmare of heavy bleeding is just too frightening. Who would have a period so bad and have to wear adult diapers?โ€™ he thought.

โ€œTuff, donโ€™t worry,โ€ Amelia said, holding Kimsey in her arms, and hesitated.

Last night, she and Landon discussed again how to treat Kayla, but before they could even take action, Kayla had collapsed again.

โ€œHow can I stop worrying? This happens every month, and itโ€™s exhausting her!โ€ Tuff said, his heart aching. โ€˜If only I could take her pain,โ€™ he thought.

Maggie suddenly blurted out, โ€œOrโ€ฆ just have it removed?โ€

โ€œWhat?โ€ Tuff responded, heart racing. โ€œRemove? What do you mean?โ€

โ€œHer womb,โ€ Maggie sighed and said. โ€œNo periods, no more suffering for her.โ€

Ameliaโ€™s expression changed drastically. โ€œNo! Absolutely not!โ€ she said.

โ€œAmelia, I know how much you worry about your sister, but isnโ€™t she suffering even more like this?โ€ Maggie said. โ€œAs her mother-in-law, Iโ€™ve come to terms with it. I wonโ€™t pressure her to have children for the Prescott family anymore.โ€

โ€œKaylaโ€™s illness can be cured,โ€ Landon said, tightening his fists at his sides.

He knew all too well what it meant for a woman to lose her womb. His wife already had a child.

โ€˜Itโ€™s not just about taking away her ability to have children; itโ€™ll cause her to age prematurely,โ€™ he thought.

โ€œSigh, you all talk it over. Iโ€™m just suggesting,โ€ Maggie said. She sat there for a while, then got up and left.

However, Tuff had taken Maggieโ€™s suggestion to heart. โ€˜If it means my honey wonโ€™t suffer anymore, nothing else matters to me,โ€™ he thought.

โ€œLandonโ€ฆโ€ Tuff sounded heavy.

โ€œNo!โ€ Landon cut him off, firmly against it.

He shot Amelia a look and then forcibly dragged Tuff away. โ€œLetโ€™s talk outside,โ€ he said.

As the door to the hospital room clicked shut, Amelia quickly looked around to make sure no cameras were around.

After confirming there was no camera, she said to Kimsey, โ€œKimi, your aunt isnโ€™t feeling well. Can you help heal her?โ€

Kimsey babbled, nodding eagerly as if he understood Amelia. Amelia put Kimsey down next to Kayla and gently guided his tiny hand to rest on Kaylaโ€™s belly.

โ€˜Kimsey usually heals external injuries by touching them. Perhaps it works for internal injuries, too?โ€™ Amelia wondered.

Since Kimsey couldnโ€™t talk yet, Amelia could only guess and hope that it would work. Kimsey just kept patting Kaylaโ€™s belly as if it were a toy, goofing around like he was playing a game with Amelia.

Amelia felt a wave of anxiety wash over her. โ€˜Is this going to work?โ€™ she wondered.

โ€œCoo, cooโ€ฆโ€ Kimsey babbled indistinctly, sounding like a cuckoo during planting season.

Amelia grinned, just about to tease her son, when one of Kaylaโ€™s eyes suddenly opened. โ€œAmy?โ€ Kayla whispered.

โ€œKayla, youโ€™re awake!โ€ Amelia exclaimed, her voice filled with excitement.

โ€œAm I in the hospital?โ€ Kayla murmured, glancing around the room, and smiled bitterly.

โ€œKaylaโ€ฆโ€ Amelia choked up as she called out.

โ€œCoo, cooโ€ฆโ€ Kimsey scrambled forward on both hands and feet toward Kaylaโ€™s chest. He was a chubby little bundle, like a perfect cherub, so adorable that he could melt anyoneโ€™s heart.

Kayla smiled and grabbed his chubby little hand. โ€œKimsey, did you come to play with me?โ€ she asked.

โ€œKayla, is your belly still in pain?โ€ Amelia asked nervously.

Kayla had been so caught up with her chubby nephew that she only realized after Ameliaโ€™s reminder that her belly didnโ€™t hurt anymore, and the bleeding seemed to have stopped.

โ€˜Did the medicine really work so well today? What did they put in the drip?โ€™ Kayla wondered, looking up at the drip.

โ€œKayla, are you feeling better now?โ€ Amelia asked anxiously.

โ€œYeah, it doesnโ€™t hurt anymore, and the heavy bleeding finally stopped,โ€ Kayla replied.

โ€œThank goodnessโ€ฆ Thank goodnessโ€ฆโ€ Amelia wiped away her tears, her voice trembling with emotion.

Kayla was stunned. โ€œAmy, whatโ€™s the matter with you?โ€ she asked.

โ€œKayla, try sitting up and see if you can feel any difference,โ€ Amelia said, holding Kimsey up in her arms.

Kayla wasnโ€™t sure what Amelia was getting at, but she did as she was told and sat up. She wasnโ€™t in pain, and there was no more bleeding.

โ€˜Could it be that my illness is gone? Thatโ€™s why Amyโ€™s so excited?โ€™ Kayla wondered.

โ€œKayla, try getting up and walking a few steps,โ€ Amelia urged.

โ€œAlright,โ€ Kayla responded and got out of bed, expecting to feel dizzy. However, to her surprise, she felt completely fine. There wasnโ€™t any dizziness at all.

As she walked around, there wasnโ€™t any heavy bleeding. โ€˜Oh my God! Someoneโ€™s eased my condition. Is it Morgan?โ€™ Kayla wondered in disbelief.

โ€œKayla, can you hold Kimsey?โ€ Amelia blurted out, quickly shoving her son into Kaylaโ€™s arms.

Amelia was so flustered that Kayla had to scramble to catch Kimsey. โ€œAmy, whatโ€™s the matter with you?โ€ she asked and nearly dropped Kimsey.

โ€œKayla, Kimsey has a healing technique. He healed you,โ€ Amelia whispered, excitement all over her tear-stained face.

Kayla was shocked and completely speechless. โ€œKayla, weโ€™ve just found out recently that Kimsey has a special ability,โ€ Amelia said.

โ€œOh my God, my baby boy is incredible!โ€ Kayla exclaimed, completely in awe. She held Kimsey and kept kissing him.

Kimsey giggled happily, letting out a few happy coos as he squirmed in her arms. โ€œKimsey, luckily we have youโ€ฆโ€ Kayla said, her voice trembling with emotion, and she burst into tears.

God knew how down she had been ever since she returned from Dreicean. She never cared about what outsiders said, but Tuffโ€™s attitude just made her feel even worse.

She wanted to have children for him so he wouldnโ€™t let the Prescott family down. The tougher she acted in front of others, the more she broke down when she was alone.

โ€˜Now that Kimseyโ€™s healed my illness, I can finally have children for Tuff,โ€™ she thought.

โ€œCoo, coo!โ€ Kimsey cooed. Praised by everyone, Kimsey got so excited he spat out a little drool, giggling with delight.

โ€œKayla, Landon just sent Tuff out for a bit,โ€ Amelia said.

โ€œI get what you mean. I wonโ€™t say a word to him,โ€ Kayla said, her voice full of emotion as she gently pinched Kimseyโ€™s chubby cheeks. โ€œIf anyone ever finds out about Kimseyโ€™s special ability, it could cause trouble.โ€

โ€œAbsolutely!โ€ Amelia nodded repeatedly.

Kayla, remembering that Amelia also had a special ability, looked at her in surprise and asked, โ€œAmy, is this something Kimsey inherited from you? Is it in your genes?โ€

โ€œUhโ€ฆ I donโ€™t think so,โ€ Amelia replied nervously, a hint of panic in her voice.

Her special ability was unremarkable; she could hear Landonโ€™s thoughts. However, it was still a special ability.

โ€œYou guys should have another baby!โ€ Kayla teased with a laugh. โ€œThen youโ€™ll know if itโ€™s in the genes or if you just hit the jackpot.โ€

Amelia gave an awkward smile and said, โ€œLandon says Kimseyโ€™s all we need.โ€

โ€œNo way! The more kids, the merrier! When they grow up, theyโ€™ll have someone to talk things over withโ€“just like me and Landonโ€ฆโ€ Kayla said, still hooked up to the drip, already giving Amelia a piece of her mind.

Amelia couldnโ€™t help but laugh. โ€œKayla, how about you worry about yourself first!โ€

โ€œIโ€™ll definitely have more kids, at least two more!โ€ Kayla said confidently, her eyes sparkling with determination.

โ€˜If I give Tuff two more kids, thatโ€™ll make three in total. Every holiday, I receive three sets of gifts.โ€™ Kayla couldnโ€™t help but laugh at the thought.

Amelia couldnโ€™t help but laugh and shake her head. โ€œGo for it. Iโ€™ll go call Tuff over,โ€ she said.

Tuff had been so worried about Kayla that he nearly lost his mind. But when he walked in and saw her sitting up, chatting away happily like nothing had happened, he was stunned.

โ€œHoney? Youโ€ฆโ€ Tuff stammered.

โ€œTodayโ€™s treatment works well. I feel so much better than last time,โ€ Kayla said, flashing Tuff a reassuring smile.

Seeing Tuffโ€™s eyes swollen from worry just made her even more determined to give him the family he had always dreamed of.

Amelia and Landon exchanged glances; they spoke without words. Landon finally felt a sense of relief.

โ€œThe drip is the same as last time,โ€ Tuff said, still not quite convinced. โ€œHoney, are you sure youโ€™re feeling better?โ€

โ€œAbsolutely!โ€ Kayla said, hoisting Kimsey high up. โ€œLook, Iโ€™ve got my strength back!โ€

Tuff hurriedly held Kimsey and handed him right back to Amelia, shooting her a look that practically said, โ€œWhy did you let your sister hold the baby right now?โ€

Then, feeling a little guilty, he sneaked a glance at Landon and thought, โ€˜Crap, I just scolded Amelia without thinking. Landonโ€™s going to get mad at me!โ€™

โ€œWeโ€™re heading home now. Tuff, take care of Kayla,โ€ Amelia said, not upset at all, and the family of three left smiling.

โ€˜Landon didnโ€™t blow up?โ€™ Tuff thought to himself, blinking in disbelief. โ€˜Is this a dream world?โ€™ he wondered.
