Chapter 302

“Miss Kayla, the boys are back!” Aaron shouted excitedly, holding Kimsey and leading Landen.

Kayla’s eyes reddened with emotion as she rushed out.

“Mommy!” Landen threw himself into Kayla’s arms, tears falling like beads from a broken string.

No matter how mature he seemed, he was still just a child.

“Mommy… Mommy…” Landen cried out, his voice trembling.

“Don’t be scared, son. Tell Mommy, did you get hurt these past few days?” Kayla checked Landen over from head to toe.

Fortunately, there were no visible injuries.

“Great-uncle Monroe didn’t hurt us, but he’s really scary… Aunt Amelia is still with him. Mommy, please go save Aunt Amelia!” Landen sniffled and said through his tears.

“Okay, okay!” Kayla said and turned to look at Kimsey.

Kimsey was sucking his thumb, giggling in Aaron’s arms as if mocking Landen for crying.

Seeing him so innocent, Kayla felt so relieved.

She took Kimsey from Aaron and gently soothed him, “Kimsey, Aunt Kayla’s here. Don’t be scared…”

Kimsey only giggled.

He didn’t ask for his mom or dad either.

“Fortunately, Kimsey isn’t uncomfortable with strangers and wasn’t intimidated by Monroe,” Aaron sighed.

“It’s not that he isn’t uncomfortable with strangers, it’s just that Monroe knows how to soothe him,” Landen explained.

Aaron was dumbfounded. ‘Monroe, that big villain, knows how to soothe Kimsey?’ he thought.

“Great-uncle Monroe really likes kids. He’s been playing with us these past few days–he even made me pasta and cooked delicious baby food for Kimsey,” Landen added.

At that, everyone fell silent in shock.

‘Snatching someone else’s kids just to dote on them? What brand of psycho does that?’ everyone thought.

Even Kayla, who was already used to the Kyle family’s craziness, was left speechless.

“Landen,” Aiden came running over from the living room.

Hearing Aiden’s voice, Landen grinned and called out instinctively, “Uncle Aiden!”

“Shh! Night Owl is sleeping!” Aiden reminded.

At that, everyone felt speechless.

At this touching moment, instead of a dramatic family reunion, Aiden told his just-rescued nephew to keep his voice down!

“Uncle Aiden, it’s not even nighttime yet, I don’t want any midnight snacks,” Landen said as he dove into Aiden’s arms.

Still, being the obedient kid he was, he had already lowered his voice.

“Aiden’s a goner–totally hooked,” Tuff said.

“No, that’s just pure infatuation,” Kayla replied.

They exchanged glances, then simultaneously facepalmed in unison.

Once Aiden set his sights on something, he’d never stop until he got it–he never gave anyone a chance to say no.

Just like he was after Amelia back then.

Even when Amelia was pregnant, he still went after her, dreaming he could score a free stepdad gig.

Night Owl’s got a lot of headaches coming his way.

Hopefully she would not get so mad to off Aiden.

“Come on, let’s go take a bath and wash away all that bad luck!” Kayla said, leading Landen and Kimsey off to bathe while the others waited quietly.

At the same time, she did a quick calculation in her head. ‘There should be about three hours left before Monroe lets Amelia go, right?’

Monroe’s plane touched down smoothly in Dreicean, where he picked up Monica.

Seeing his precious daughter, he went up and hugged her dotingly. “Monica, you’ve been through a lot.”

“Daddy, where’s Landon?” Monica barely paused for the hug, blurting out her question.

“He just had surgery today, so he needs to rest,” Monroe replied with a mysterious smile, handing Monica a small box. “When he wakes up tomorrow, give him this–once he eats it, he’ll be totally head over heels for you.”

Monica opened the box and found a small, red, oval, semi-transparent thing inside. It looked like a mini capsule, or maybe even some kind of weird creature’s egg.

There was something strange about it, through and through.

“Daddy, what kind of treasure is this?” Monica asked.

“It’s a love spell,” Monroe let out a long sigh. “It took me ten years to raise this little thing. Make sure you use it well, okay?”

“Thank you, Daddy! You’re the best daddy in the whole world!” Monica said happily, kissing him on the cheek. Then she asked, “Daddy, are you going to let Amelia go? I hate her–why don’t you just get rid of her for me?”

“Norava is the Kingsley family’s turf,” Monroe said, ruffling his daughter’s hair affectionately. “Be good, Monica. Landon’s heart already belongs to you—she won’t be a threat to you anymore.”

“All right, then!” Monica pouted.

She pursed her lips and ran off to see Landon.

The night was shrouded in a hazy darkness, with the warm yellow streetlights casting a dim, misty halo.

Not far away, beneath one of those streetlights, a tall figure was leaning against the post.

Monroe told his men to take Monica and Landon back first.

Then, he walked over to that figure.

“How did it go?” Monitor asked, reaching out to place a hand on the figure’s shoulder.

The man took off his hat, revealing his face. “It was alright—first time behind bars.”

“Thanks for going through all that!” Monroe said, a contented smile appearing on his face as he looked at the man who looked exactly like him.

It was his twin brother, Marvel Montgomery.

He was also his shadow.

They were identical in every way, from their height to even their hair. Even their wives and children couldn’t tell them apart.

They’d never been apart since the day they were born–it was like they shared a single life.

School, work, dating, getting married, even having kids…they did everything together.

Even back in the orphanage, they’d taken turns pretending to be the same person.

If it weren’t for Landon stirring things up, no one in the world would have known they were two people.

“Not going to kill those guys?” Marvel asked.

“I can’t take out that many,” Monroe shook his head. “The Flying Tiger Sect has too many top fighters—even the Kington Gang couldn’t handle them, so how could we?”

“We’re the Mystic Sect,” Marvel said, lifting his gaze. The darkness in his eyes was a perfect match for Monroe’s.

It was hard not to notice how alike they were, down to the smallest details.

“Landon found a powerful hypnotist who can break my powers,” Monroe said.

“He can try all he wants, but he’ll never crack my mystic powers.” Marvel let out a dismissive laugh.

“I know what you can do. For now, just lay low. Once I’ve taken care of that hypnotist, we’ll make our move,” Monroe said.

“Alright,” Marvel nodded.

The brothers came to an agreement, then turned and disappeared into the night in opposite directions.

The Montgomery brothers—one born with supernatural powers, the other a master of mystic powers. Together, they pushed the Montgomery family’s bloodline and reputation to the absolute limit!

But too bad they managed to keep their secret for over forty years, only to blow their cover in the end… All because of Monica’s crazy love.
