Chapter 198

Seline’s voice became even more pitiful. She sounded as if she were struggling to speak. “Suzanne saw me eating with Mr. Alvarez and deliberately came over. She said bad things about us, painting a bad image of our family. She even tried to seduce Mr. Alvarez in the restaurant!”

She had to make sure Henry saw Suzanne as trash.

As Seline continued, she sobbed with grievance. “Mr. Alvarez got mad and left. He told me to tell you that he really loathed the women of the Yates family.”

Henry was so angry he almost couldn’t catch his breath. If he hadn’t been holding onto a pillar, he would have collapsed. His face was stormy, and he ground his teeth angrily as he spat out the words, “She has done nothing good and is involved in everything bad! How did Teven raise such a wretched child?”

Seline’s eyes shone triumphantly, but her tone was still soft and sad. “I’m sorry, Dad. It all failed to establish a business collaboration with Mr. Alvarez.”

Henry could barely contain his anger as he responded impatiently, “What does this have to do with you? That little bitch, Suzanne, should’ve died with her mother.” He was still yelling and cursing at Suzanne.

Selime comforted him repeatedly, and he finally calmed down a little. As he complimented her sensibility, Seline saw that things were pretty much resolved, so she victoriously hung up the phone.

“So what if you have a good relationship with Mr. Alvarez, Suzanne? You’ll never be able to return to the Yates family. Without a good family background, you’re nothing. No aristocrats will disregard family upbringing.” Seline thought sinisterly as her eyes gleamed maliciously.

In the private room, sundown after she returned with Alan. Alan shot Suzanne a dark look as he asked, “Have they always treated you like this?”

Even though Alan had done some investigation beforehand, when he saw how pretentious Seline was with his own eyes, he could imagine how difficult Suzanne’s life must have been.

Suzanne took a tissue and wiped her hands with it as she smiled nonchalantly. “It’s nothing, it’s fine.”

This was nothing compared to them drugging her and sending her to Todd.

Suchard looked at both of them and asked curiously, “Did something happen?”

Suzanne said nothing, but Alan filled Richard in regarding everything that had happened.

Richard slammed the table and roared, “The Yates family is such a humiliation!”

How could they be such bullies? How could they think of scheming against the Alvarez family?

He looked at Suzanne and asked, “Do you need us to do anything for you, Dr. Smith?”

Suzanne knew Richard wanted to be her support, but she smiled and shook her head. “No need. I have my ways against the Yates family, but thank you for your kindness.” Sometimes, it was best to personally take revenge.

Pachand understood that Suzanne didn’t want him to get involved, so he could only nod and say, “Okay.”

The three of them continued to talk casually about something else until Suzanne saw the time on her wristwatch and said courteously, “Thank you for today, Mr. Richard and Mr. Alan.”

Richard and Alan stood up with her, and Richard offered, “We can send you back, Dr. Sills.”

To minimize unwanted hassle, she didn’t really want to know about Austin’s residential address, so she smiled as she shook her head. “Thank you, but it’s fine to take a walk home.”

Richard and Alan shared a look and didn’t press further.

I nodded, saying, “Alright. Thank you for your hard work all this while, Dr. Sills.”

It was fortunate for them that they met Suzanne. If not, Alan would still be troubled with this whole mess.

Suzanne shook his hand and said, “You’re welcome, Mr. Richard. This is the least I could do.”

As she walked out of the restaurant, she breathed a long sigh of relief. She wasn’t very good with social events like this, and she didn’t particularly enjoy them, but she couldn’t say no when faced with their kindness and enthusiasm. Suzanne felt most at ease when it was peaceful and quiet.

The night breeze was a cooling balm after the warm, stuffy feeling of the day. It comforted the restlessness within her soul.

Suzanne raised her head up slightly and felt the breeze tugging at her hair playfully. However, when she reached an alley, she suddenly stopped in her tracks.
