Chapter 155
With a single kick, Suzanne sent Mandy flying across the room before she crashed onto the ground.
“Mom!” Seline screamed in horror, her furious gaze snapping toward Suzanne. Before Bet could finish, she, too, was sent airborne, landing directly on top of Mandy with a sickening thud. Their screeches filled the air, making even the men who were smashing furniture pause as their expressions shifted. Damn, Suzanne was fierce! None of them dared challenge her. She would probably take them all down in a fight.
Suzanne let out a disdainful scoff and stood leisurely amidst the chaos. “Lowly creatures like you have no right to speak to me.”
Henry gritted his teeth, his mind clearing from the searing pain in his wrist. But instead of tending to himself, he fixed his bloodshot eyes on Suzanne. “Who the hell is that man?” Todd’s injuries were all because of him. If not for that, none of this would have escalated.
Suzanne looked at Henry like he was already a dead man. “You’re not worthy of knowing.”
Hey’s face twisted. “You—” The sound of destruction only grew louder, drowning out his cry.
Suzanne turned and strode into the living room, her eyes scanning the space before she picked up a sledgehammer resting against the wall. She dragged its heavy handle along the floor, heading straight for the stairwell. Henry’s face paled. Seeing where she was headed, he roared, “Suzanne, don’t you dare!”
She laughed. “Are you stupid? I’ve been wrecking your house this long. Do you really think I wouldn’t dare?”
Henry trembled in rage, his vision swimming. He gasped for breath, unable to form a coherent rebuttal. Suzanne raised the sledgehammer and brought it down on the staircase railing with a deafening crash! The wooden banister splintered, sending shards flying.
At that moment, the massive crystal chandelier hanging above came crashing down, shattering into a million glimmering pieces. That chandelier alone cost more than 500 grand! Henry felt a sudden darkness before his eyes and staggered backward several steps. Mandy quickly stepped forward to support him, her voice filled with concern. “Henry…” Suzanna stood amidst the shattered glass, backlit by the morning sun. In this light, she looked like the Grim Reaper. “I’m sparing you only because we share the same blood, but if there’s a next time—”
Her voice suddenly sharpened, sending chills down everyone’s spine. They instinctively stared at her, dumbfounded, as she parted her lips and enunciated each word with deadly finality. “Henry Yates, I will take your life!”
She hurled the sledgehammer in her hand to the ground, instantly creating a deep crater in the marble floor. However, she wasn’t done. “Destroy everything. Leave nothing untouched.”
Suzanne turned to leave, but as she reached the doorway, she suddenly paused and glanced back at Henry with a smirk. “If you don’t want my grandfather and uncle to intervene, swallow this humiliation, Henry. Otherwise…”
She let out a cold laugh, her eyes sweeping over the stunned faces in the room before striding away. That day, Sue left an indelible mark on the Yates family and the bodyguards she had brought with her.
After Suzanne left, Henry surveyed the wreckage of the room, his legs giving way as he collapsed to the floor. Mandy, despite her own pain, hurriedly supported him, her voice frantic. “Honey, are you okay?” She couldn’t afford Henry to collapse now. The situation with the Lloyd family was still unclear, and she needed Henry to hold things together.
Seline, with a pale face, rushed over to Henry as well. Mandy and Seline flanked him, each holding an arm, as Seline pleaded, “Dad, don’t be angry. Your health is what matters most.” As they looked around, they realized there was nowhere to sit. Everything had been smashed to pieces.
The two women helped him to the staircase, where he sat down heavily. Seline quickly fetched the first-aid kit and pulled out a spray for bruises and sprains before carefully applying it to Henry’s wrist, which was now swollen and bruised. A sharp, soaring pain shot through Henry’s arm, and he let out a pained groan. “Ahh! Careful! That hurts!” Seline’s hands trembled slightly at his reaction.
“I’m sorry, Dad,” she murmured, trying to steady herself. “I’ll try to be gentle.”
