Chapter 118
Air freshening up. Austin quietly opened the bedroom door. Inside, under the soft glow of the bedside lamp, Suzanne lay on the bed, peacefully asleep with her eyes gently shut.
Austin lifted the blanket and slipped into bed beside her. No sooner had he settled in than Suzanne, still deep in slumber, unconsciously draped her slender arm lightly around him.
He froze momentarily. Seeing that her eyes remained closed and her breathing was steady and deep, it was clear she hadn't awakened. Her slightly curled eyelashes, under the light's projection, resembled butterfly wings. Below them, her straight, elegant nose and cherry-colored lips appeared adorably charming.
Recalling her lively demeanor at the office today, a gentle smile crept across Austin's face. He softly tucked the blanket around Suzanne and then embraced her before drifting into a deep sleep himself.
The following morning, Suzanne was awakened by her phone's alarm. She stretched and slowly sat up, casting a suspicious glance to the side. Did he not come home again last night? It seemed he enjoyed the meals she prepared. She'd find a chance to deliver him more homemade dishes. However, today wasn't ideal since she was scheduled to participate in a TV program.
Sure enough, just after she finished her morning routine and breakfast, her phone rang. Suzanne didn't need to check the caller ID to know who it was and answered right away. "Sweetheart, how's everything going? Are you out the door yet?" Shane asked with concern. Although he trusted Suzanne's reliability, given their rare outings together lately, he felt the need to remind her.
Suzanne gave a slight smile and said, "Yeah, I'm heading out now. I should be there in about an hour."
"Okay, great! We'll meet up here later, then."
"Alright."
After hanging up the phone, Suzanne left. Shane had previously offered to pick her up, but she preferred not to disclose her location, so she decided to go on her own.
Backstage at the set of the TV program, the studio bustled around, preparing for the show's upcoming recording. Caleb Jandre and Sabrina Abson were seated side-by-side in front of a large makeup mirror while a makeup artist carefully applied cosmetics to them. As a top-tier actress, Sabrina had high standards for her appearance. Pointing to a spot on her cheek, she said, "The powder's a bit thick here. I should've used a facial mask earlier. I'm filming a show with Jenson, after all." The thought of Jenson's arrival made Sabrina's eyes sparkle. She had chosen a bright and lively outfit for the occasion: a snug, off-white sweater and a red, form-fitting short skirt, complemented by a lace necklace in the skirt's color. Her hair was styled in high, cute double ponytails that gave her a fresh and energetic look.
Caleb wore a sleek white outfit, paired with a blue diamond earring in his left ear. His grin radiated the warmth of a cheerful and sunny disposition. Noticing Sabrina's vain expression, he couldn't resist teasing her lightly, "How did Jenson ever become interested in you?"
