Chapter 363
Josie followed Sean all the way back to the Reedshaw family. As they entered, Sean was still holding her hand.
โSean?โ Josie tugged her hand, subconsciously wanting to pull it away.
Though the joy in her heart was undeniable, her deep-seated inferiority complex left her without the courage to appear before the Reedshaw family holding Seanโs hand.
She believed that she wouldnโt be the ideal daughter-in-law in the eyes of Seanโs parents.
Sean didnโt allow her to pull away. โWhat are you panicking about?โ
He stopped and moved closer to her. โYouโve already met the Reedshaw family, why are you still nervous?โ
He raised his hand and smoothed her hair. โDonโt be afraid, Iโm here!โ
He insisted on holding her hand as they walked into the house.
Josie was terrified, fearing she would be disliked.
But when the family saw them, they didnโt act any differently. It was as if they hadnโt even noticed they were holding hands.
โWelcome back.โ Elliot seemed to have just come out of the garage, likely just returning from work. โLetโs go in and eat!โ
When the two entered the house, Claireโs family of three and Patti Reedshaw were already there.
Patti waved at Josie. โCome sit next to me. I made your favorite pulled pork today. Make sure to eat plenty later.โ
โOkay.โ Josieโs eyes curved into crescents, her nervousness completely disappearing.
She was enveloped by a wave of warmth, making her incredibly happy.
She said, โThank you, Patti!โ
She obediently sat beside Patti. Sean sat down next to her.
Halfway through the meal, Delilah said, โThe Reedshaw family has a tradition. Each generationโs inheritor has to take on a disciple.
โUnlike a regular student, this disciple must formally apprentice according to the Reedshaw family rules, perform the apprenticeship ceremony, and be registered in the Reedshaw family tree.
โThis disciple will be the sole disciple of the Reedshaw family inheritor, also known as their last disciple. This disciple bears the mission of passing down Reedshaw family medicine and also enjoys corresponding rights!
โAs the 106th generation inheritor of the century-old Reedshaw family medicine, I wish to pass on my knowledge, including the entirety of Reedshaw family medicine, to Josie.
โJosie, are you willing to formally become my disciple and become a true inheritor of Reedshaw family medicine?โ
โโฆโ Josie nervously stood up abruptly. โYes, I am willing. Professor, what should I do?โ
She grabbed the cup from the table and raised it towards Delilah.
Due to nervousness and quick movements, the drink spilled all over her hands.
Everyone at the table laughed.
โSilly girl!โ Sean grabbed her hand, wiping it with a tissue as he spoke. โYouโre not scalded, are you?โ
Josieโs face flushed crimson, and she looked at the people at the table with embarrassment, โNo.โ
โSit down!โ Sean pulled her down. โAunt just wants to confirm your intention again.
โThe Reedshaw family values willingness when accepting disciples. We donโt believe in coercion.
โAs for what you have to doโฆโ
He glanced at Patti!
Patti nodded at him.
He cleared his throat and looked seriously at Josie. โWe will prepare for the apprentice acceptance ceremony.
โPrior to that, you must first learn the Reedshaw family rules, understand the Reedshaw family precepts, and grasp the rights, obligations, and responsibilities.
โYou also have to learn the missions as a successor to the Reedshaw Medicine legacy.
โThe Reedshaw family has many rules. Once you officially become the successor of Reedshaw Medicine, you must abide by these rules.
โIf you cannot do so, you can decline the apprenticeship.โ
Josie shook her head. โYou are all good people, and I suppose your rules are good too. I grew up wild and free, and what I lack most is discipline.
โProfessor is willing to accept me as a disciple, not minding my foolishness, ignorance, or lack of proper etiquette.
