Chapter 362
โI have come to understand Jeremyโs character somewhat these days. Delilah has never interfered in the instituteโs affairs.
โTo say they treat the institute as the Reedshaw familyโs property is utterly absurd.
โHow could two such accomplished, high-level professors be impressed by the unremarkable Josie? This girl must possess some genuine talent.
โFurthermore, I am not sure how much truth there is in Davidโs words.
โHowever, I donโt believe a single word from Audrey. Over the years, that woman has certainly taken advantage of me many times!โ
โYouโre right!โ Digby angrily slammed down his fork.
He said, โHow can I, a senior researcher, be led by the nose by a young punk? Jeremy clearly doesnโt respect me.
โIโm going back right now to confront him. No one is going to interfere with my experiment.โ
He made to stand up and leave.
Audrey and David exchanged glances. One blocked him while the other pulled him back.
Audrey said, โDigby, why the rush? Whatโs the point of that? With Jeremyโs disposition, do you really think heโll take your side?โ
Audrey snorted coldly. โAfter all these years, who does he truly respect besides his wife? Believe me, youโll never reach your full potential working for him.
โHow about joining Professor Lawsonโs research team?โ
David nodded. โI greatly admire you, Digby. If you agree, our main laboratory is yours.
โFor every experiment from now on, your ideas will be my top priority.
โSo, are you willing to join us?โ
This truly was a very sincere invitation. They were so sincere that theyโd given up their own opinions and were completely prioritizing his ideas.
Essentially, they were handing all experiments over to him.
Digby thought, โSo, what role will David play in these studies?
โHe canโt be thinking of taking all the credit in the end, can he?โ
Digby felt disdain inwardly but showed no sign of it, subtly waving Audreyโs hand away.
He asked, โHow can that be? Jeremy looks down on me, and Iโm determined to prove my capabilities to him.
โIf I just leave like this, wouldnโt that make me a laughingstock?
โJust wait. Iโll make Jeremy realize whether he should listen to me, or to some inexperienced girl, or to his wife.
โThis is outrageous. Watch how I confront him!โ
Digby looked furious, rolling up his sleeves as he left, not caring how much he had eaten or if the bill was settled.
The upstairs cafeteria was ร la carte and required payment, unlike the downstairs monthly card system. He rarely came up here.
Anyway, David and Audrey had invited him up, so Digby felt that they should pay.
Digby strode out of the cafeteria, his anger vanishing as an involuntary smile curved on his lips. He thought, โThey think they can fool me? Not a chance.
โEven if I want to go to a different team, this isnโt the time.
โIf Jeremy is truly as incompetent as they say, then I certainly canโt change teams right now. This is the best opportunity to prove my capability.โ
Digby happily returned to the lab and, without hesitation, changed his original experimental method.
As soon as he left, Audrey was frustrated. โDavid, what does he mean by this?โ
She thought, โShouldnโt he have immediately requested a transfer to our team? Why does he need to go back and prove himself? Is something wrong with him?
โWhat future is there in following Jeremy? Davidโs team is clearly more promising.โ
David didnโt expect anyone to disrespect him like this.
He said, โNo matter what he means, weโve said what we needed to. If he canโt understand it, thereโs nothing we can do.
โSince youโve discovered that Josie has begun to interfere with the experiment, their progress is unlikely to be swift.
โOur top priority is to start our research as soon as possible!โ
The Brown Group was not like the Monroe Group. David couldnโt disappoint them. He must ensure they see benefits by the end of the year at the latest.
His research had to succeed.
