Chapter 313
โI have reviewed your class schedule!โ Seanโs gaze was intense. โAfraid of me?โ
Josie grew even more flustered, her voice stammering. โWhoโฆ who is afraid of you? Thatโs not true. Youโre overthinking it!โ
After she finished speaking, she turned and walked out.
As soon as she left, Delilah looked up and asked, โWhy do you keep teasing her? If you truly like her, pursue her properly!โ
Sean shook his head. โItโs not the right time yet.โ
He retrieved a document from his bag. โStarting tomorrow, Iโll reduce my time at the lab. Once you recruit new people, Iโll step back completely. Hereโs the internship form; just sign it when the time comes.โ
โYou need this?โ Delilah frowned, pushing the form aside. โHave you really thought this through? Youโre going to help Elliot instead of me?โ
Sean looked exasperated. โDelilah, be reasonable. How is that helping him instead of you? If that were the case, I wouldnโt have studied acupuncture in the first place.โ
โWhat do you mean?โ Delilah said, displeased. โYou chose to let go at such a critical moment. Isnโt that just not helping me?โ
โTo be honest, you have plenty of support now, especially with Josie. She fits the requirements for our familyโs final disciple perfectly. But Elliotโฆโ Seanโs brow furrowed. โGrandma is practically sick with worry over it. Grandpa passed away with regrets. I canโt let Grandma remain uneasy. I want to find out the reason.โ
At the mention of Elliot, Delilahโs expression darkened. โThat reason wonโt be easy to uncover. Be careful. Heโs stubborn.โ
Sean rarely laughed like this. โGrandma says youโre the most stubborn one in the family. But truthfully, Dad, Dolores, and you are all stubborn.โ
โHey, watch your tone. Iโm your aunt!โ Delilah stood up to shoo him out.
Sean left, still laughing. โAlright, alright. Why am I not even allowed to comment on it?โ
Delilah smiled wryly. Once the door closed, her smile gradually faded. Every single one of them in the family was stubborn.
Once they set their minds on a goal, they never gave up until they achieved it.
The matter from over twenty years ago remains unresolved.
All of them held a grudge deep down.
Waiting in the hallway, Josie felt restless and awkward. Her heart was in turmoil.
Finally, she simply took out a book and squatted on the floor to read.
She hadnโt gotten through two pages when a shadow fell over her.
โNo wonder I canโt beat you in exams. It turns out you work so hard,โ Natalie said, lowering her head to look at her. โI really admire you, Josie. You are so strong. How can you still focus on reading at a time like this?โ
Josie did not understand what she meant, nor did she plan to ask. โYou are blocking my light. Could you please move aside?โ
Natalie rolled her eyes in frustration and snatched the book from Josieโs hands. โStop pretending. Squatting here? Is it to make all the passing professors praise you for being diligent? Josie, youโre such an actress. I never realized you were this type of person before.โ
Reading had been the last thing on Josieโs mind regarding making an impression.
โFine. Iโll stop then.โ She grabbed her book back, stuffed it into her bag, and looked up to find Natalie still standing there, clearly not leaving. โWas there something else?โ
Josie found Natalie so thoroughly detestable that she had no desire to speak at all.
Especially when she thought about how, in her past life, Natalie had taken everything that rightfully belonged to her simply for being Davidโs daughter, the disgust surged straight to her head.
It took immense self-control not to slap Natalie twice.
As things stood, Josie didnโt yet have the power to plunge Natalie into ruin, nor could she drive David out of the medical field.
Petty conflicts would only drain her energy and affect her mood. She didnโt want this nuisance disrupting her rhythm. Ignoring her was the best approach.
She needed to grow stronger enough to stomp Natalie deep into the mud, ensuring she could never climb out again!
However, Natalie seemed unable to understand her aversion and continued to clamor with evident disdainโฆ
