Chapter 292

Were it not for the inappropriate occasion, Josie would have burst out laughing.

She felt that it was inaccurate to claim that Jeremy was dull and inarticulate. He usually did not bother to engage in disputes with Audrey.

So, he fixed his target on David.

He was all about ignoring Davidโ€™s arrogance.

Jeremy could make a comeback at whatever David was throwing at him.

Not only did Jeremy leave David speechless, but he also returned the remark Audrey had just used to mock him.

Josie stood up and handed Jeremy a glass of water. โ€œProfessor, have some water. You said youโ€™re not usually used to talking so much. You must be tired, right?โ€

โ€œI kind of do!โ€ Jeremy cast a resentful glance at the director.

Then, he continued, โ€œAt my age, it isnโ€™t easy to get a good nightโ€™s sleep. Yet I am still awakened in the middle of the night by these kinds of things.

โ€œHow am I supposed to feel about this? I feel quite like a victim!โ€

The director felt that Jeremy was taking on the role opposite of a victim. He had an utterly exasperated look on his face!

In his early years, he received help from elders from the Kinberg family.

As a result, he showed a certain degree of care toward Audrey. However, this care was strictly confined to the limits permitted by his official position.

For instance, in the matter of this projectโ€™s initiation, he did not fully stand on her side.

He originally thought that it was simply a coincidence that two project teams had accidentally overlapped in their research methods.

Since their research directions were similar, he believed that a straightforward discussion would be enough to clarify the situation.

Unexpectedly, David acted like Jeremy had stolen his research methods. It truly made the director upset.

Luckily, Jeremy was really on point today and didnโ€™t put up with Davidโ€™s bad attitude. Josie, too, really knew how to handle things.

Her remark paved the way for Jeremy to teach David a lesson.

The director thought, โ€˜Jeremy is getting on with the years, and he couldnโ€™t get a good sleep because of this. He has every right to lose his temper here.โ€™

โ€œJeremy, calm down!โ€ the director, ever the diplomat, said, โ€œLetโ€™s hear what Professor Lawson has to say.โ€

He added, โ€œProfessor Lawson, could you please address the question raised earlier by Jeremy?โ€

David was livid. He had originally posed this question and wondered why he was being questioned now.

But since Jeremyโ€™s team had produced findings through the research method they had only discovered a few days ago, obviously, David felt that it was impossible.

Davidโ€™s team had no research results, and the time for validation was simply insufficient. Even the discovery of the method came later than Jeremyโ€™s team.

In this round, they suffered a complete defeat, and their only remaining hope now lay in the ownership of the patent.

David said, โ€œProfessor Wilcourt, there is no need to rush to explain.

โ€œWe are not suggesting any plagiarism or misappropriation. Rather, both project teams have discovered similar research methodology.โ€

David wore an expression that clearly said he wasnโ€™t going to argue with Jeremy. โ€œI want to clarify this to avoid getting into trouble in the future.โ€

Josie thought, โ€˜This selfish and self-serving robber.

โ€˜Jeremy has already provided a clear explanation, yet he still seeks to monopolize the patent for the research methodology!โ€™

โ€œHow can there be troubles in the future?โ€ Jeremy was an overly candid and upright individual.

In his view, this research methodology belonged to them, and any subsequent matters were no longer related to David.

He was entirely unaware of Davidโ€™s sordid intentions.

Josie responded with a laugh, fully aware that the moment David read their paper, he began scheming to exploit the patent for his own benefit.

She thought, โ€˜He will absolutely do everything possible to obtain ownership of the patent.

โ€˜Unfortunatelyโ€ฆโ€™

โ€œDirector, since this matter cannot be explained clearly to Jeremy, then you should explain it!โ€ Audreyโ€™s words interrupted Josieโ€™s thoughts:

She added, โ€œBoth project teams discovered the research method, and it doesnโ€™t matter who found it first.

โ€œWe are already applying for a patent, so you canโ€™t assume the patent belongs to them just because they published a paper.โ€

Josie thought, โ€˜You shameless person. This is outright robbery!โ€™

Josie pursed her lips and looked up at Jeremy. At that moment, Jeremy also glanced over.

A trace of concern flickered in his eyes, and his brows were tightly furrowed.

Josie suddenly smiled, giving him an almost imperceptible nod.

โ€œJeremy, what do you think about this?โ€ The director really didnโ€™t want to offend either side.

Jeremy gave a wry smile and said, โ€œThis research method was discovered by my student, Joseph."
