Audrey walked into the office with an angry expression.

In the office, David, along with Aiden and Gavin, had been waiting for a long time.

Jeremy entered, yawning. “Director, I was up all night just yesterday. What kind of matter made you drag me in today?”

He couldn’t understand why they had to do this right now.

The director looked puzzled. “Staying up late to conduct experiments?

“You know, at your age, why push yourself so hard? Can’t you let those new interns keep an eye on the experiments?”

Jeremy waved his hand and said, “It is not about the experiment. It concerns the paper.

“I have been occupied and unable to supervise them. Last night, I set aside some time to help them revise their paper.

“By the way, have you seen the paper? What do you think? It’s pretty good, isn’t it?

“See, I told you Joseph is a promising kid, and Josie, too. They’re the future rising stars of our medical community!”

David could not bear to listen any longer and sneered, “Aren’t you giving these students too much credit? They have only produced two introductory research papers.

“Do such works truly warrant prefaces from distinguished figures like Mr. Longley and Professor Reedshaw?

“Are you not concerned that any errors might cause the two esteemed experts to lose face?”

Jeremy wasn’t happy. “What’s wrong with this research paper? That’s still the achievement of several kids.

“Even if it’s embarrassing, we’re happy to do it. Professor Lawson, if you want to, you can try as well. What a pity…”

He thought, ‘You do not possess even the preliminary research findings!’

Josie could barely hold back her laughter.

She thought, ‘Jeremy is usually so rigid and serious, never one for arguments. However, this is exactly the type who, when he finally does deliver a zinger, makes it all the more satisfying.’

David was completely shut down, his face turning a dark purplish–red, yet he could not utter a single word.

Noticing that they couldn’t gain the upper hand on the current topic, Audrey promptly reminded him, “David, don’t argue with them about this.

“Talk about the research methodology!”

David also appeared to realize the purpose of their visit.

He said, “Setting aside the authenticity of the research findings in your paper, I just want to know exactly how the research methods mentioned in your paper were discovered and applied.”

Josie thought, ‘The audacity to boss people around here!’

Josie was seething with anger and just wanted to yell at David.

“Director, who is this?” Jeremy looked as though he had forgotten.

The director, who was known for his good temperament, said, “David Lawson, a research professor collaborating with us. You have met him before, haven’t you?”

“So it’s Professor Lawson!” Jeremy adjusted his glasses.

He added, “I thought that someone from higher up had come to check the authenticity of our paper, suspecting that we had falsified it.

“In other words, what right do you have to ask me a question like that?”

When it came to provoking, no one could surpass Jeremy. Josie truly could not hold back; her shoulders trembled slightly.

David had simply spent too long in a position of authority and had become accustomed to constant praise.

But this wasn’t his school, and Jeremy’s status was even higher than his in this institution, so David had no right to act so arrogantly.

“Of course not!” The corners of the director’s mouth also lifted.

He explained, “Actually, Professor Lawson and his team have filed a patent application for a research method, which appears to be similar to your team’s approach, so…”

Jeremy gave a slight twitch of his lips and picked up where the director left off. “So what? Surely you’re not suspecting us of having stolen their research methods?

“This is a huge joke. Our research methodology was established at the beginning of the year.

“The success of the experiments and the research results presented in the paper rely entirely on this methodology.

“May I ask, when were the research methods discovered by Professor Lawson and his team? Why is the patent application made so urgently? Has the method been validated yet?

“You say it has been proven that this research methodology is genuinely effective and can achieve certain research results.

“So, does that mean your research has also succeeded? Yet not even the slightest bit of news has come out.
