Chapter 258

After all, it was Aiden who had been singled out for criticism. Under such circumstances, no one else would dare to speak up.

Jaden held his head in his hands and lamented, โ€œProf Lawson was obviously referring to me!

โ€œHave you guys noticed that ever since Josie left the team, we seem to encounter endless bad luck?

โ€œKyle has dropped out of school. And now, even Aiden, who has always placed first, has inexplicably dropped to fourth place. As for myself, my grades have never been this poor. They are truly abysmal this time!โ€

Natalie wanted badly to give Jaden a good thrashing. โ€œWhat does this have to do with Josie? If there is any connection, it was because you refused to give up and spent too much time on her, which led to you spending less time on your studies.

Gavin nodded. โ€œThatโ€™s true.

โ€œLast year, we did indeed waste too much time on her. Itโ€™s not surprising that it has affected our studies. Aiden, I know you are worried about her, but Prof Lawson is also concerned about you. Donโ€™t take his harsh words to heart.โ€

Gavinโ€™s words gave Aiden a graceful exit from this awkwardness. Just as he was about to speak, someone knocked on the laboratory door.

โ€œProfessor Lawson, I have come to claim my reward for the bet!โ€ Josie Pearson was outside the door.

She did not come alone. With her were Sean Reedshaw, Claire Wilcourt, Adeline Nicholson, Zoey Harding, and Colby Clem.

After all, there was so much research material. They needed more hands to haul everything away.

Initially, Aiden and company were furious upon hearing her voice, but in the next second, they became puzzled. โ€˜Reward? Bet?โ€˜

Jaden threw caution to the wind and rushed up angrily to yank the door open.

โ€œJosie Pearson, how much more trouble are you going to cause? You left our team a long time ago. Youโ€™re not allowed here. Get lost now!โ€

โ€œLapdogs should not bark wantonly. Your master has not given the instruction. Why are you yelping so much?โ€ Josie glared at him with undisguised contempt.

โ€œBesides, I am here to see Professor Lawson. Either step aside or notify him immediately. If he does not come out, I will take this matter to the faculty head and the director of the Academic Affairs Office for a fair resolution.โ€ With that, Josie played back the recording of her conversation with David about the bet on her phone.

Everyone clammed up after listening to the recording.

Nevertheless, Jaden still stood at the doorway, blocking Josieโ€™s way.

โ€œStill not stepping aside? Do you really want me to speak to the faculty head?โ€ Josie raised her eyebrows ominously at him.

Jaden frowned at once. She was doing it again, giving him the look he despised above all others.

That scornful contempt and subtle provocation made him want to hit her!

โ€œJosie Pearson, you barely scraped through yourself. Yet you still have the nerve to come here and intimidate us? You must be dying to get your hands on our stuff!โ€ Jaden growled through gritted teeth.

Inwardly, Josie felt that this guy was full of bullshit and arrogance. โ€˜Does he know how detestable he is?โ€˜

โ€œFirstly, the materials I am requesting are strictly those I personally gathered during my time with the team. I am not taking a single sheet of your work.

โ€œSecondly, this is my grades report from the last semester. Take a look for yourself. If you are blind, you can get others to read it to you.

Josie shoved a printout at Jaden as she pushed him aside. Then she led her team into the laboratory.

Aiden and company were incredulous after seeing her results.

How did Josie average above ninety in acupuncture? Didnโ€™t she just change her major and study for less than one semester?

Aiden looked on sullenly, and when he saw Colby standing behind Josie, his expression became even more dour. He demanded, โ€œJosie, what exactly do you want?โ€

Josie was growing impatient. โ€œAre you deaf? Let me repeat myself. Professor Lawson lost a bet with me, and I am here to collect my materials.

โ€œI had gathered those materials when I was with the team over those few years. If you have any concerns, you are welcome to come in and check through them one by one.

As soon as she finished speaking, David emerged from his officeโ€ฆ
