She turned and waved to him, adding, “You should hurry to class. I am leaving now. Let’s have lunch together at noon. My treat.”

Sean did not leave until Josie’s back had disappeared.

“I spotted you from way off!” Colby walked over from somewhere and playfully punched Sean on the shoulder. “Funny thing is, kid, you went through four years of undergrad and almost two years of grad school without ever getting close to a girl. So how come there’s suddenly someone in your back seat?

“I kept looking and looking, and then realized it was Josie! Come on, be honest. Do you have a thing for her? Otherwise, why would you come over so early to see her off?”

Sean pushed his fist away and said, “Stop it. She has an exam today. My aunt was worried she might oversleep, so she asked me to come and check on her. Fortunately, I came. Otherwise, she would have been late.”

“Is it really because your aunt told you?” Colby looked skeptical. “I don’t believe it!”

Sean did not bother to explain. “Believe it or not, you may say whatever you wish in front of me. However, do not speak carelessly in front of that girl. She is still young. She does not understand these matters and is timid. Do not frighten her.”

“Well, well, well, look at you defending her already. And you still say you’re ‘not interested’ in her? Admit it!” Colby stepped forward, put his arm around Sean’s shoulder, and the two of them left together.

“Tell me, when did this happen? Was it during the preparations for the intramural competition?”

Sean punched him and said, “I told you to stop fooling around. Let’s talk seriously. How are the preparations for your company going? Do you have enough startup capital?”

David shook his head. “No. Do not concern yourself with this matter. Let Kyle come to me himself.”

“How could she refuse? Does she truly intend to drive Kyle to his downfall? How could she be so heartless!” Natalie gritted her teeth, a trace of hatred flashing in her eyes.

She thought that, even if she could not prove the fact that Josie was having inappropriate relationships, she could still ruin her reputation. That way, Josie would be too ashamed to stay at school.

It was unfortunate that Kyle, thinking himself clever, would end up getting involved with Jeremy.

Even if there were an improper relationship, it would be one thing. But Jeremy was Delilah’s husband, and they had a daughter named Claire.

‘If this matter isn’t true, then forget it. At least there’s still that issue with Chief Harlow.’ Natalie denied that Josie, as a female orphan, could have made it all the way to university through legitimate means.

From her perspective, without adoptive parents, no stranger would be willing to pay for her education unless she resorted to selling her own body.

However, the facts proved that Josie had indeed maintained her integrity and innocence throughout her journey.
