Chapter 274: On Their Way to Catch Them

Hearing Isabella's inner thoughts, the Quirks were dumbfounded. "What? Oliver is setting a trap to frame his fiancรฉe and Damien?" They couldn't comprehend why Oliver would do this. Had he become so disdainful of Damien that he was willing to use his fiancรฉe as a pawn?

However, this indirectly confirmed one thing: Oliver had no idea Damien harbored feelings for Deborah; otherwise, he wouldn't have planned this.

Alexander's expression was grim; he foresaw the deeper intentions at play. Elaine kept checking her phone, eager to gossip with Deborah about Oliver's maneuver. "It's strange," she said. "Deborah just messaged saying she'll be coming over. Why is she taking so long to change her clothes?" After all, Deborah disliked the media spotlight.

The others waited for Damien's arrival, but he hadn't appeared. Meanwhile, Isabella panicked. Time was running out; she needed an excuse. Grabbing Alexander, she said hastily, "I'm feeling dizzy. Accompany me to rest for a while." Suddenly, Alexander's phone rang. He glanced at the screen, cooperating with Isabella, then his pupils constricted. He answered the call.

"Help" a weak voice whispered before the line went dead.

Seeing the couple heading east, the Quirks, though nervous, were relieved. Gathering in a corner, they decided to wait, believing they might be useful later. They suspected the crowd intended to catch Damien and Deborah in the act, so they would watch Oliver and the reporters.

They glanced at Ava, laughing with others, Ruby at her side, and cursed inwardly. What kind of mother was she? How unlucky was Damien to have her?

Isabella muttered anxiously to herself, "Hurry, the break room in the east corridor, the third one the third one We need an excuse to barge in."

Suddenly, Alexander said, "Bella, something's happened to Damien and Deborah. They're inโ€”"

Isabella, still searching for an excuse, was overjoyed. Flow, that's impressive! she thought. I thought for sure Mrs. Hillis would slip Damien something potent. I can't believe he could withstand it and even call for help!

She reached the third break room. Surprisingly, the door was unlockedโ€”perhaps intentionally, to facilitate catching infidelity. She opened it. A stifled growl came from inside.

Isabella and Alexander exchanged a glance and rushed in. Relief washed over them. Deborah lay on the bed, unharmed, except for slightly disheveled clothing. Damien, however, was curled on the floor beside a shattered vase, clutching a shard that had cut his hand. Blood flowed freely. He was using pain to control his impulses.

Isabella found herself admiring Damien. He manages to hold himself back even in this situation, huh? He's truly the ultimate coward, no doubt, she thought.

Alexander picked up Damien and took him to the bathroom, using cold water to calm him. Isabella tried to wake Deborah, but she remained unconscious.

"Alexander, what should we do? Call the police? Or an ambulance?" Isabella asked.

Before Alexander could reply, Damien, regaining some composure, said, "No, that'll be too conspicuous. It'll expose us. They'll suspect something even if we did nothing. We can't let their scheme succeed." Noticing Damien's agony, Alexander said, "I'll call a private doctor discreetly. We must leave nowโ€ฆ"

Before he finished, Isabella's inner voice screamed, Oh no, they're on their way to catch them red-handed. What should we do?

Lydia had been waiting for Damien, unable to reach him. Frowning, she sent someone to find him. Oliver approached the Carneys, who were with Lydia. "Where's Deborah? I can't find her, or reach her. I was going to introduce her to my friends."

The Carneys hadn't seen Deborah.

Then, Ruby whispered, "I think I saw Damien following Deborah to the break room. They've been in there a while." Her words sparked gossip. What could they be discussing?

Ava tugged Ruby. "What nonsense are you spouting? Damien isn't even close with her." This only fueled speculation.

Oliver's face darkened; he left. The reporters, posing as guests, stood up excitedly.

Lydia, sensing something was wrong, tried to stop Oliver. "Deborah is resting upstairs. Oh, right, Oliver, I've assigned Damien some tasks. He probably hasn't finished yet, so could you go and help him?" She wasn't sure what happened, but she knew not to create a scene. When Oliver ignored her, she knew it involved him. Her face paled.

Oliver led a group down the corridor. The onlookers watched with curious expressions.

"What's going on? More gossip?" "Of course! Isabella is here!" "Shall we go take a look?" "They're catching someone red-handed!"

Some followed; others discussed excitedly. Isabella's presence fueled the gossip. The small group was stunned, hearing whispers of Damien and Deborah's suspected affair.

"Is Oliver out of his mind?" Elaine exclaimed. "Something's not right. It's a setup," Roland said, realizing, "Alexander and Isabellaโ€ฆ" "They said they were resting. Is there juicy gossip?" Aiden asked. Ines gasped. Roland felt relieved. "If they're around, there shouldn't be major problems." He felt ridiculous, but couldn't help worrying. They didn't believe Deborah and Damien were having an affair, but if they were, it was likely a setup. Seeing Oliver's actions, they followed the crowd.
