Chapter 681

Stephanie turned over and sat up. The night-light in the room dimly illuminated the space. Her face showed no emotion.

“She was so sick, but she still managed to hang on for this long. She was quite a fighter,” Stephanie said.

Tyler had kicked Olivia out of the Hart family, and they all assumed she wouldn’t last long on her own. But, to their surprise, Olivia had managed to survive all this time living on the streets.

Allison replied, “No matter how hard she tried to cheat fate, she still ended up dying miserably.” It was one thing to refuse to accept your fate, but it was another to try to climb up by stepping on others. Karma caught up with her.

Stephanie raised her eyebrows when she heard about Olivia’s miserable death. “What do you mean by dying miserably?” she asked.

Allison said, “She was living under a bridge, and there were two beggars…” She trailed off, unwilling to tell the vulgar details.

But Stephanie already understood what she meant. Back when Stephanie had returned to the Hart family, Olivia had tried to kill Stephanie to maintain her noble status. Even after Stephanie had settled in the Hart family, Olivia had constantly tried to undermine Stephanie and steal her thunder, always desperate to maintain her own age of elegance and superiority. She had refused to acknowledge her position as a mere adopted daughter, always clinging to her delusions of grandeur. But, in the end, this was how it all turned out for her.

“That is pretty miserable,” Stephanie agreed and thought, ‘In fact, it is quite a tragedy.’

Allison said, “She got what she deserved. Remember when you were in the hospital, unconscious? If Ella and I hadn’t been there to watch over you, who knows what would have happened. And as for Tyler…”

Allison chuckled softly, “So it seems you’ve had a good life since returning to Fiorenza.”

“Yes, it has been good.” Those simple words spoke volumes about how fulfilling Stephanie’s life had been since her return. Chris and the Hart family had been expecting her to be kicked out of the Giovanni family, but they were left disappointed. Back then, they couldn’t wait to see her thrown out.

“What about you? How are you doing?” Stephanie asked.

When Allison left Long Harbor, things seemed strange between Allison and Yanis. Stephanie was a little worried about her.

Allison said, “Okay.”

Compared to Stephanie’s “good” just now, Allison’s “okay” sounded a little forced. Stephanie sensed something was off in her tone and frowned. “If you don’t want to stay in Long Harbor anymore, come to Fiorenza, I can easily get you into a promising hospital.” Stephanie didn’t want Allison to force herself if she was unhappy.

Allison said, “I don’t need your help.”

Stephanie replied, “Yes, you are a genius. If you leave Yanis, plenty of people will want you?” An exceptional doctor like Allison was hard to come by. “How are you and Yanis?” Stephanie asked.

Allison said, “There is nothing to say.”

Stephanie didn’t know what to say. Allison said, “Actually, I’m already preparing to leave Long Harbor. As soon as the research center in Yorathia gives me the go-ahead, I’m leaving.” Allison was currently waiting for the notification from Yorathia.

Stephanie asked, “You’re going to Yorathia?”

“Don’t tell anyone.” Allison hadn’t even told Yanis about it, so she didn’t want Stephanie to tell him either.

Stephanie replied, “Okay, I know.”

They chatted for a bit longer before hanging up.

Sebastian returned from his study and saw Stephanie putting down her phone on the bed. He walked over and took off his robe. He got into bed and pulled Stephanie into his arms. “Who was on the phone?”

Now, Sebastian hated it most when someone called Stephanie at night. She was pregnant and needed enough rest.

Stephanie snuggled under the covers and lay in Sebastian’s arms. “It was Allison,” she said.

“If she needs help, tell her to call Elliot,” Sebastian said.

Stephanie thought, ‘Does he think all my friends, like Ella, only reach out when they need help?’ Actually, Ella had helped Stephanie a lot back in Long Harbor. This time, Ella’s world was suddenly in turmoil, and she hadn’t fully processed it yet. Once she did, Stephanie believed Ella would adapt quickly and handle the situation.

“She wasn’t asking for help,” Stephanie mumbled.

Sebastian asked, “So what happened?”

“Olivia is dead. She was found under a bridge in Long Harbor. It’s been freezing there these past few days,” Stephanie said.

As the most prominent adopted daughter in Long Harbor, news of Olivia’s death would definitely make headlines.

Sebastian pinched her cheek affectionately and asked, “Waking you up in the middle of the night for something like this?”

“Long Harbor is daytime now,” Stephanie said.

Sebastian said, “That’s not a reason.”

Stephanie joked, “She told me to make me feel better.” She stuck out her tongue playfully. Hearing that Olivia had died tragically did bring a sense of relief to Stephanie.

“Can’t she call you during the day?” Sebastian asked.

“If it’s daytime here, it’s the middle of the night for Allison,” Stephanie said.

Sebastian didn’t reply and simply held Stephanie close, urging her to sleep. Stephanie slept soundly that night, especially in Sebastian’s arms. It didn’t take long for her to drift off. However, Sebastian was experiencing quite the opposite.

At four in the morning, Sebastian got up and took a cold shower. When he got back into bed and held Stephanie again, she must have felt the cold and moved a bit, muttering in her sleep.

“Don’t hug me. You are cold,” Stephanie said.

Her movement caused the lust in Sebastian that had just died down to rise again.
