Chapter 679
Sofia was in no mood to talk to Richard. Though Richard was only her husband in name, last night's incident left her awkward. And now, that damn woman, Lucaโฆ She shoved Richard away. โUgh, whatever you have to say, save it for later.โ
Without waiting for Richard to respond, Sofia took off after Luca. If she didnโt catch Luca today, she was sure that woman would disappear to some remote desert wildlife reserve.
Richard frowned as he watched Sofia rush off, limping but still moving at full speed. After a brief hesitation, he decided to follow. Luca was agile, but Sofia was no pushover either.
Finally, in a dead-end alley, Sofia cut off Lucaโs escape, panting as she planted her hands on her hips. โRun. Keep running!โ
Luca remained silent.
โYou shamelessโฆ When Macro was with my brother, all you did was talk big. I never thought youโd stoop this low. It runs in your blood, doesnโt it?โ
Recalling how Luca had taken advantage of her while she was searching for Stephanie, Sofia felt an overwhelming urge to beat her up.
Luca smiled. โWhoโs the shameless one here? I helped you find that person, and now you want the reward back? What kind of logic is that?โ
โYou helped? Sebastian found her. All you did was take a quick trip to Long Harbor and run off.โ
Just thinking about it made Sofia furious. No one got paid that easily for just strolling around.
Luca shrugged. โWell, if Sebastian was already there, why stick around like a third wheel?โ
โCut the crap! Give it back! The deal was for you to bring her to me!โ She had paid a fortune to have that person brought over. And all she got was just a piece of information.
Sofia gritted her teeth. โAnd you stole from me!โ Sofia was infuriated at the mention of this. That just made it worse. Not only had Luca taken the money, but sheโd also swiped Sofiaโs belongings on the way out. How shameless!
Luca feigned innocence. โI didnโt steal. I found it.โ
โFound it? In my room?โ
โYes. I found it in your room.โ
Sofia was speechless. So now stealing something from her own room was just โfindingโ it.
โDamn it! Fine, letโs just forget about reasoning!โ she thought.
Fuming, Sofia lunged at her. โIโll tear you apart today!โ If Luca didnโt return what sheโd taken, Sofia would make sure she regretted it.
Neither of them had a calm temper. Sofia was fiery, and Luca, who spent her days dealing with wild beasts, wasnโt any better. The two clashed, throwing punches and kicks without holding back.
โUgh!โ Sofia groaned, her face contorting in pain as a punch landed squarely on her chest. She retaliated with a swift kick to Lucaโs stomach. The fight was brutal, and neither was willing to back down.
Suddenly, a loud bang echoed from the entrance of the alleyway as two vans screeched to a halt. Over a dozen men jumped out, charging towards them with weapons in hand. The sheer aggression in their approach brought Sofia and Lucaโs brawl to an abrupt stop.
Sofia and Luca exchanged a look.
โTheyโre after you,โ Sofia whispered.
Lucaโs lips twitched. It wasnโt impossible. But facing Sofia, she refused to back down, retorting, โItโs more like theyโre here for you.โ
Sofia was taken aback. Before she could speak, the leader, with a menacing snarl, barked out, โGet her. Teach Ms. Giovanni a lesson!โ His voice was laced with malice, especially as he spat out the words โteach her a lesson.โ
Sofia cursed under her breath, โDamn it! They really are here for me. Who sent them? Dan or Elena?โ
The moment the order was given, the group surged toward Sofia. She pulled out her gun and killed one instantly. But with so many attackers at close range, she was quickly overwhelmed, forced into hand-to-hand combat.
Luca watched with her arms crossed.
Sofia gritted her teeth angrily, โLuca, you jerk, are you just going to stand there and watch?โ
โBeg me. Say all that stuff is mine, and Iโll help,โ Luca uttered.
Sofia thought, โThis heartless woman. After stealing so much, this greedy woman still wants me to hand over everything else. How shameless!โ
Sofia was on the verge of exploding. โDonโt even think about it!โ It was just wishful thinking to take those good things. Luca rolled her eyes and kept watching.
Sofia yelled, โLuca, youโre finished!โ No matter what, she wouldnโt let Luca walk away unscathed.
Luca chuckled. โYou should worry about how youโre going to get out of here alive first.โ These men were aces. They were here to kill Sofia.
Just then, one of them lunged at Sofia from behind, a gleaming knife aimed at her. Lucaโs eyes sharpened. With a flick of her wrist, a slender electroshock device shot from her fingers, striking the man square in the eye. The blade froze just an inch from Sofiaโs head before the man collapsed with a scream.
Luca continued to bluster, โIf you donโt give me those things, donโt expect me to save you today?โ
โI donโt need your help,โ Sofia yelled angrily.
Just as she finished speaking, Luca successfully knocked another person unconscious with a needle.
โThatโs whatโs wrong with you. Youโre too proud and stingy. You should learn from Sebastian.โ
Sofia was taken aback.
Luca continued, โLook at how he spoils Stefi. He doesnโt even blink at the cost.โ Sebastianโs love for Stephanie was on another level. He gave her everything. Just like her wedding, a staggering quantity of luxury items had been brought to the venue. Yesterday, Luca merely passed by the unfinished wedding venue and took one glance. That one look instantly made her, a staunch non-believer in marriage, yearn for it.
Hearing her compared to Stephanie made Sofiaโs blood boil. โHow dare you compare yourself to Stef? Sebastian and Sterfi are family. You and I? Weโre nothing. Why would I be generous to you?โ These werenโt even comparable situations.
Luca just grinned. โI donโt care. Give me the stuff, or youโre on your own.โ Her tone was icy, her stance unyielding. Yet despite her words, Luca had already taken down five men. The remaining attackers, clueless about what was happening, were no match for Sofia, especially now that Luca was secretly helping.
