Chapter 673

In just ten minutes, Elena was beaten so badly that her hair was a mess, her face covered in blood, and she looked like a ghost. She knelt on the ground, her body trembling. Even though Elena wanted nothing more than to tear Sofia apart, she was outnumbered and outmatched. She didn’t dare say a word, especially with Sofia’s dozen bodyguards standing outside.

Sofia sat on the sofa in the room, looking every bit the queen. She picked up Elena’s phone and dialed Dan’s number. It wasn’t Dan who answered, but his subordinate, Samuel. “Ms. Rossi,” Samuel said respectfully.

“It’s Sofia,” she said coldly.

The line went silent. Then Samuel stammered, “Ms. Giovanni, why are you calling from Ms. Rossi’s phone?”

It wasn’t that Dan’s men were cowardly; it was just that Sofia had just put Dan in the ICU. That left a lasting impression. They all thought Sofia was a woman they couldn’t mess with.

Sofia asked, “Where’s Dan?”

Samuel said, “He’s knocked out by you.” Samuel, Dan’s assistant, instantly lost his temper at the mention of this. He wondered why Sofia could be so heartless as to beat Dan like this, and why Dan would have fallen for her.

Sofia chuckled, “Well, from the sound of it, you think he’s suffered a great injustice.”

Samuel said, “Mr. Murry has always cherished you.”

Sofia sneered when she heard this, especially when she saw Elena’s pale face as she lay on the ground. When Samuel said that Dan cherished Sofia, Elena turned even paler.

Sofia laughed as if she had heard some ridiculous joke. “Do you even know what that means? Dan faked his death while she was heartbroken. Everyone in Fiorenza knew about it. But he didn’t show up when she needed him most.”

She wouldn’t fall for that kind of “cherish.” She said, “If he’s not awake, then I can’t inform him.”

Samuel was confused. “What do you mean?”

Sofia glanced at Elena, who was lying on the ground, and gave a mysterious smile. “Strike while the iron is hot.”

Samuel was at a loss.

Sofia added, “What do you think will happen if I find ten people to ‘do’ Elena? Would that be the end of your boss?”

Samuel’s voice suddenly turned serious. “Ms. Giovanni.”

Elena’s face, already pale, turned even whiter when she heard Sofia’s words.

“Ms. Giovanni, you can’t do that.”

Sofia gritted her teeth. “Oh, really?” She recalled what Elena said over the phone. The thought that she might have been ruined made her furious. She pulled out her gun and pointed it at Elena.

“Fine, how about I end her right here, right now?” Sofia was going crazy. Dan had betrayed her in the past, and now the people around him were still tormenting her. She didn’t want them to think she was a pushover.

“Ms. Giovanni, please calm down!” Samuel was at a complete loss for words. “Mr. Murry didn’t do anything to you. We were with him all night.”

Samuel had no idea that Sofia had overheard Elena’s phone call. He thought she was just seeking revenge for what happened last night and now she was targeting Elena. He found Sofia rather terrifying.

Sofia had already lost all reason. “Of course, it wasn’t him, but he’s not innocent either! No matter what, Dan deserved what he got. This time, it was just the wrong reason. But in the end, it all balanced out.”

“Well, but-”

“Elena hired them! Several of them! Do you think Elena is innocent?” Sofia shouted at the phone.

As her emotions surged, she accidentally fired the gun in her hand. Elena screamed in pain.

The intense sounds traveled through the phone, stunning Samuel on the other end into silence. “Ms. Giovanni, please calm down. There might be a misunderstanding.”

“Misunderstanding my foot!” Sofia was furious, spewing out curses.

Elena’s leg was injured, and the pain made her whole body convulse.

Samuel was so anxious that he almost jumped. But Dan was still unconscious after being rushed to the emergency room. There was no way to reach him. In fact, several people who played cards with him that day were also in the ICU under observation.

“Ms. Giovanni, Ms. Elena is so kind. She, she wouldn’t do that,” Samuel, who had just been annoyed with Sofia for Dan being beaten, now wanted to kneel down to her.

If Samuel hadn’t mentioned Elena’s kindness, things might not have escalated. But the moment he praised Elena, Sofia went crazy.

Elena panicked. “No, it wasn’t me!” She shook her head frantically. Her previous arrogance on the phone was replaced by utter humility. Sofia had completely terrified her.

Sofia scoffed, “Not you?”

Elena shook her head. “My people couldn’t find you. It wasn’t me!” Her words only confirmed her guilt.

Sofia gave a cold laugh. “Oh, they couldn’t find me? So how many people did you hire?”

Elena remained silent, too afraid to answer.
