Chapter 622
Sebastian picked a light blue dress for Stephanie because his tie was also blue.
As Sebastian and Stephanie came out of the sitting room, Richard and Sofia started arguing again for no clear reason. They had just cleared up the โmoneyโ issue, but here they were, quarreling once more. It sounded like Richard was accusing Sofia of being fake, and Sofia couldnโt stand it. She had been quietly doing charity work for many years. Now, with Richard saying this, it wasnโt just an argument anymore; it had escalated into a full-fledged fight.
โThink your mouthโs lost its use, huh? Iโll shut you up for good,โ Sofia said, moving closer to him.
Richard grabbed her slender waistโsomething she didnโt like others touchingโand she immediately got angry. โWhere do you think youโre grabbing? Let me go right now!โ she yelled, raising her hand to slap him.
โDamn it. Other women would go weak when touched there, but Sofia turned into a spitfire,โ Richardโs expression darkened. He seized her slender wrist. โEnough. You think Iโm eager to touch you? Even if you were offered to me, I wouldnโt take you.โ
โYou wouldnโt take me, yet you touch me. You jerk!โ Sofia lifted her other hand to hit him.
Richard was so irritated his head began to throb. โI donโt want you, and no one else will ever want you either. Just wait and see if you ever get married in this lifetime.โ
Those words were vicious. As a woman, especially a perfectly fine one, who could endure such a curse? Sofia certainly couldnโt. โDamn you, you jerk!โ
Richard shot back, โIโm just being honestโgo out and ask if anyone likes someone as hot-tempered as you.โ
Sofia was too angry to speak. โDamn it! I have to rip his mouth apart today, or Iโll never hear the end of it.โ
Stephanie and Sebastian exchanged glances. Stephanie wanted to step in and help, but Sebastian pulled her away at once.
Once they were upstairs, Stephanie wriggled free from his strong grip and protested, โWhat are you doing? Iโโ
Sebastian said, โShe doesnโt need your help.โ
That was true. Sofia was certainly not at a disadvantage against Richard. However, Stephanie was still a bit annoyed since Richard had caused her and Sebastian to be apart for so many years. With that thought, everything Richard did seemed wrong to Stephanie.
โYouโre not worried about Sofia? The Casalini family is a total disaster right now,โ Stephanie noted.
Richardโs stepmother had acted so well-behaved when she first joined the family. But now, her actions were becoming more frequent, all in a bid to grab wealth for her kids.
Sensing Stephanieโs concerns, Sebastian smiled slightly. โSofia wonโt fall for their tricks.โ
Stephanie fell silent, realizing he had a point. No matter what schemes were plotted against Richard and Sofia, Sofia wouldnโt take the bait.
Attending parties generally meant one didnโt get full at these events. Since Stephanie was pregnant, her family naturally put her needs first.
Lottie had been out for some time and called back, โMake something for Stefi in the kitchen and let her have a snack.โ
โYes, Mrs. Lucano,โ the butler answered respectfully.
Actually, there was no need for her to worry. Sebastian had already taken care of everything. Besides, Stephanie was feeling sleepy. Sebastian took her back to their room, planning for her to nap for an hour, eat something, and then leave.
As soon as they entered the room, Sebastian received a call. His expression shifted slightly as he covered the receiver and looked at Stephanie. โBe good and take a nap. You and Sofia can head to the event together laterโno rush, okay?โ
