Stephanie was stunned. “And you’re still talking about marrying him? How did it even get to this conversation? It’s such a surprising turn of events! Ella hasn’t been around Lorenzo that long, so how could it escalate to this…”
Ella replied, “If I say my mouth and hands act on their own, would you believe it?”
Stephanie countered, “Do you even believe that yourself?”
Ella was silent. She couldn’t believe it herself. Nevermind Stephanie, even Ella herself found it hard to believe.
“But that’s just the truth,” Ella said in a suddenly sulky tone. Honestly, around Lorenzo, it was like she lost control of her hands, feet, and mouth. Once it all happened, after she blurted it out, she was just as shocked.
Stephanie pressed on, “Alright, just be honest with me. Do you really like Lorenzo?”
“I’m really afraid to like him,” Ella repeated, feeling even more puzzled by Stephanie’s questions. Honestly, when she said “marry you,” it wasn’t because she liked Lorenzo. Even now, she felt exasperated, unsure how such shocking words slipped out.
Just as she finished speaking, the door clicked open. The man’s face was hard to read, but the moment Ella met his intense gaze, her heart instantly tightened.
Meanwhile, as Stephanie was chatting with Ella, the call suddenly dropped. She tried saying “Hello” a few times into the phone, but there was no response.
Just then, Sofia walked in from outside. Seeing Stephanie, she snorted, “Chatting with your Long Harbor bestie again?” Her tone was dripping with jealousy, thickening the air with tension.
Stephanie simply responded with an “Mm-hmm.”
Sofia said, “Tell her to stop calling you so often, or Sebastian might get upset.” She shook her head. “What’s with a girl who keeps calling someone repeatedly throughout the day? Wait a minute… Is your friend interested in Sebastian?”
Stephanie was just thinking that Sebastian wasn’t upset, but Sofia definitely was. Hearing Sofia’s comment, Stephanie forced a smile—she knew Ella. “What are you talking about?”
Sofia sneered, “Don’t say I didn’t warn you. Don’t let your guard down even in front of your best friends.”
“Ella isn’t that kind of person, so stop saying that,” Stephanie insisted. Stephanie knew Ella very well. It’s just that she’s been causing problems around Lorenzo lately and getting nervous. If they were in Long Harbor, things would definitely be different.
Sofia just said, “Ella? Sounds like a cute name.”
Stephanie was taken aback by her active way of thinking.

Stephanie was stunned when she heard Sofia cursing out Dan. If she had known, she would have cursed Chris the same way. And it seemed men also felt humiliated. Seeing Sofia’s current energy, it seemed pretty effective.
Sola laughed, “Whoa, come show me what you’ve got. Do you really think you can? You should focus on when you’ll get out of the hospital. You’ve been beaten up so badly, and you’re thinking of getting back at me? Poor thing.”
