Chapter 596

Sitting beside Sebastian, Sofia listened to their conversation, feeling overwhelmed by their sweet exchanges. Sofia thought, ‘After all these years, Sebastian and Stephanie have known each other forever, yet now that they’re dating, they’re acting all lovey-dovey.’

Sebastian continued to reassure Stephanie for a bit longer before ending the call. Sofia teased, “I never realized, Sebastian, you’re quite the romantic. We used to worry you would scare Stefi away.”

Everyone in the Giovanni and Lucano families had always been aware of Sebastian’s feelings for Stephanie. That was why both families had always treated her so kindly. Since they were family, of course, they treated her well. Back then, Sebastian always had a serious expression, although he was nice to Stefi. He was just too stern. His seriousness was like that of an elder toward a younger person. As a partner, it would probably make the other person feel pressured. But now, it seemed those worries were unnecessary.

Earlier on the phone, Sebastian’s fondness for Stephanie was sweet. He had always been gentle with Stefi. Even when he seemed serious, as soon as Stefi acted pitiful, you could see the warmth in his eyes.

Sebastian shot Sofia a look that made Sofia, who had been joking around, instantly compose herself. “Why are you giving me such a serious look?”

Sofia thought, ‘Alright, being serious can mean different things. The serious look Sebastian gives me is not the same as the one he gives Stefi. It’s just favoritism.’

Sebastian straightened his slightly wrinkled sleeve. “Don’t contact Dan.”

“I know,” Sofia nodded. She thought, ‘What’s the point of keeping in touch with a man who is about to marry someone else?’

Even if Dan would stay in Fiorenza for a long time and they couldn’t help running into each other, Sofia was determined not to lower herself.

Sebastian glanced at her. “Did you beat him up like that?” He had seen it; Dan’s forehead and chest were bandaged.

Sebastian thought, “The fact that she put him in the hospital shows that Sofia went hard on him. And the oatmeal on Dan’s chest proves Sofia made another move after visiting his ward. Dan used to be the only man who made Sofia gentle, but now that feeling has vanished after all these years.”

Sofia nodded. “I didn’t expect his skills to be so poor, so I was a bit too rough on him.” Sofia remembered how good Dan’s skills were five years ago. This time, she hit him to the hospital with ease. To Sofia, Dan’s current abilities didn’t even match up to Maxwell’s. Hearing Sofia’s words, a satisfied smile appeared on Sebastian’s lips.

At the Lucano residence, Stephanie observed the heirlooms Beth showed her. She didn’t feel much but still acted, “Wow, Beth, I can’t believe you have so many amazing things.”

Beth replied, “Of course, I have saved many treasures over the years just for you and Sofia.” Stephanie looked over at them. They were various jewels and looked quite shiny and pretty.

“The necklace looks nice. Did Sebastian get it for you?” Beth suddenly noticed the necklace around Stephanie’s neck and thought it was unique.

Stephanie touched it and said, “Sofia made it for me. It looks nice, doesn’t it?”

Beth nodded. “Yes, it looks nice. What material is it?”

“She said it’s made from stolen ore; not sure what material it is,” Stephanie replied. Although later Sofia said it was purchased.

Stephanie thought, ‘But knowing her personality, if she says it’s stolen, it most likely means someone tricked her. People who trick Sofia usually don’t end up well.’

Beth asked, “When did she learn to do this? I only knew she could make clothes, and now she can make jewelry?”
