Chapter 584

No one knew what Richard said to Lottie in the study, but whatever it was, she agreed instantly.

Lottie looked at Stephanie. “Stef—”

Stephanie was firm. “It’s a no. Yesterday, he went to the study with Sebastian and recorded their conversation. That’s sneaky. What kind of decent person records their private talks with others? Just from that, Richard’s got serious issues.”

Richard heard Stephanie’s words, and it felt like he was about to explode with anger. Clearly, he wasn’t the only one who messed up, but now they were all blaming him.

Lottie said, “Don’t say anything now. I’ll talk to you in a bit.”

Stephanie kept her mouth shut.

Sofia said, “Stefi’s right; he’s really bad.”

Richard was furious. He turned to Stephanie and retorted, “Then why not marry me? It doesn’t matter anyway, you’re my fiancée.”

Sofia, upon hearing this, couldn’t take it anymore. “Hey, I have to say, you’re shameless! Stefi’s pregnant. It’s my brother’s child, and you’re still thinking about it? Over the years, I’ve seen many shameless people, but someone as shameless as you is uncommon. Could you not find anyone else, so you’re hanging onto a pregnant woman?”

Richard turned to Sofia. “Then will you marry me?”

Yesterday, Sofia did consider messing with Richard like this. But seeing him now, Sofia suddenly felt a bit scared, not daring to take the risk. She huffed, “I also won’t marry.”

Richard shot her a look but said nothing.

Lottie spoke up. “Come on, it’s just getting a certificate, not asking you to jump off a cliff or go through fire.”

Sofia said, “There’s something wrong with him, Mom.”

Sofia had figured it out. Lottie felt guilty towards Richard because of something that happened three years ago. Maybe this was her way of compensating. “Come on, even if you want to make it up to him, you don’t need to use me as the cost, right? I’m your real daughter.”

Lottie had a headache from all the talk. “What compensation are you talking about? Just help him out, hurry up.”

“Help out? Help with what?” Sofia was confused.

Stephanie also looked at Lottie when she heard this, which made her glance at Richard. She couldn’t bring herself to believe this excuse at all.

Not only did Stephanie not believe it, but even Sofia didn’t believe it now. Everything Richard said seemed overly complicated. He could easily trap someone without them even noticing.

Sofia gave Richard a look. “What do you need help with?”

“I can’t say,” Richard replied.

Sofia fumed, “You—”

Lottie interrupted her, “Yes, it’s not convenient to say.”

Hearing the exchange between Lottie and Richard, Sofia and Stephanie glanced at Lottie and then directed their attention to Richard.

Sofia rubbed her hands in frustration. “This isn’t fair; you ask for my help but can’t even tell me why?”

Lottie said, “Yes, it’s not convenient. Alright, hurry up and go.” With that, she handed Sofia over to Richard, who just picked her up and headed out the door.

Stephanie wanted to say something, but Lottie pulled her aside.

“Alright, stay out of her business,” Lottie said. Without Sofia around, her voice had a noticeable hint of frustration.

Stephanie said, “But Richard really isn’t a good guy.”

“You’re just a kid. What do you know about people?” Lottie snapped, giving her a stern look.

Stephanie pouted.

Seeing Stephanie’s expression, Lottie felt a bit helpless. “Alright, Richard won’t harm her. The real concern is Dan. He’s truly not a good person.”

Dan dared play with Sofia. Lottie needed to think about how to deal with him.
