Chapter 584
No one knew what Richard said to Lottie in the study, but whatever it was, she agreed instantly.
Lottie looked at Stephanie. โStefโโ
Stephanie was firm. โItโs a no. Yesterday, he went to the study with Sebastian and recorded their conversation. Thatโs sneaky. What kind of decent person records their private talks with others? Just from that, Richardโs got serious issues.โ
Richard heard Stephanieโs words, and it felt like he was about to explode with anger. Clearly, he wasnโt the only one who messed up, but now they were all blaming him.
Lottie said, โDonโt say anything now. Iโll talk to you in a bit.โ
Stephanie kept her mouth shut.
Sofia said, โStefiโs right; heโs really bad.โ
Richard was furious. He turned to Stephanie and retorted, โThen why not marry me? It doesnโt matter anyway, youโre my fiancรฉe.โ
Sofia, upon hearing this, couldnโt take it anymore. โHey, I have to say, youโre shameless! Stefiโs pregnant. Itโs my brotherโs child, and youโre still thinking about it? Over the years, Iโve seen many shameless people, but someone as shameless as you is uncommon. Could you not find anyone else, so youโre hanging onto a pregnant woman?โ
Richard turned to Sofia. โThen will you marry me?โ
Yesterday, Sofia did consider messing with Richard like this. But seeing him now, Sofia suddenly felt a bit scared, not daring to take the risk. She huffed, โI also wonโt marry.โ
Richard shot her a look but said nothing.
Lottie spoke up. โCome on, itโs just getting a certificate, not asking you to jump off a cliff or go through fire.โ
Sofia said, โThereโs something wrong with him, Mom.โ
Sofia had figured it out. Lottie felt guilty towards Richard because of something that happened three years ago. Maybe this was her way of compensating. โCome on, even if you want to make it up to him, you donโt need to use me as the cost, right? Iโm your real daughter.โ
Lottie had a headache from all the talk. โWhat compensation are you talking about? Just help him out, hurry up.โ
โHelp out? Help with what?โ Sofia was confused.
Stephanie also looked at Lottie when she heard this, which made her glance at Richard. She couldnโt bring herself to believe this excuse at all.
Not only did Stephanie not believe it, but even Sofia didnโt believe it now. Everything Richard said seemed overly complicated. He could easily trap someone without them even noticing.
Sofia gave Richard a look. โWhat do you need help with?โ
โI canโt say,โ Richard replied.
Sofia fumed, โYouโโ
Lottie interrupted her, โYes, itโs not convenient to say.โ
Hearing the exchange between Lottie and Richard, Sofia and Stephanie glanced at Lottie and then directed their attention to Richard.
Sofia rubbed her hands in frustration. โThis isnโt fair; you ask for my help but canโt even tell me why?โ
Lottie said, โYes, itโs not convenient. Alright, hurry up and go.โ With that, she handed Sofia over to Richard, who just picked her up and headed out the door.
Stephanie wanted to say something, but Lottie pulled her aside.
โAlright, stay out of her business,โ Lottie said. Without Sofia around, her voice had a noticeable hint of frustration.
Stephanie said, โBut Richard really isnโt a good guy.โ
โYouโre just a kid. What do you know about people?โ Lottie snapped, giving her a stern look.
Stephanie pouted.
Seeing Stephanieโs expression, Lottie felt a bit helpless. โAlright, Richard wonโt harm her. The real concern is Dan. Heโs truly not a good person.โ
Dan dared play with Sofia. Lottie needed to think about how to deal with him.
