Chapter 575
Hearing this, Sebastian picked up his watch from the nightstand and glanced at the time. It was already past nine in the morning. Smiling warmly, he said, โThen get up and letโs eat.โ With that, he got up first.
Stephanie got up as well, watching as he went to the closet to fetch her some comfortable home clothes. โI can dress myself,โ she said instinctively, reaching out. However, he avoided her hand, saying, โLast night, Mom said I should take good care of you.โ
Stephanie said, โHuh? Itโs just putting on clothes.โ At home, everything was already taken care of; she thought everything was fine.
Sebastian chuckled lightly, reaching over to unbutton her pajamas. Stephanie felt a flutter in her heart. She instinctively grabbed his wrist, and Sebastian raised an eyebrow, saying, โHmm?โ
โIโI can do it myself,โ Stephanie said, her cheeks turning red. He affectionately pinched her nose. โAlright, do it yourself.โ He didnโt tease her any further and handed her the clothes.
Hearing Sebastianโs words, Stephanie finally relaxed. Over time, she had mostly figured it out. This calm and serious man actually didnโt have very good self-control either.
After getting dressed, she went into the bathroom. Sebastian had already squeezed toothpaste onto her brush. Standing beside him, Stephanie saw in the mirror that her head barely reached his shoulder. Seeing this, it seemed Sofia was right when she said she was short.
โWhat are you looking at?โ Seeing Stephanie holding the toothbrush without moving, Sebastian affectionately rubbed her head and asked.
Stephanie mumbled, โIn Long Harbor, I actually feel kind of tall. Why is it that back at the Giovanni residence, I really am the shortest one?โ
Hearing this, Sebastian laughed out loud. โWhen you were little, you were frail. The doctor said you were born weak. When we first brought you back, you stayed in the hospital for twenty days.โ
When she heard Sebastian say โbrought back,โ her heart skipped a beat. She remembered what Lottie had told her about it, back when she was just a tiny, soft little thing. But when she got sick, she was really difficult to handle.
At that moment, Stephanie couldnโt help but wonder, if it were not the Giovanni family that found her back then, she wouldnโt have survived. Lottie mentioned Stephanie had pneumonia and liver damageโsuch a young child enduring so much pain.
These were bitter memories. Stephanie snuggled against Sebastianโs arm and asked, โWas I a difficult child to take care of back then?โ
Sebastian nodded. โYeah, a doctor once said you probably wouldnโt make it past five.โ
Lottie never mentioned that to her. But since Sebastian said it, it must be true. Stephanie held onto him even tighter.
Sebastian looked down into her teary eyes and pinched her nose. โSee? Arenโt you doing just fine now?โ
Stephanie was certain that if it werenโt for the Giovanni family, given the circumstances at the Hart residence, she might not have made it this far. These days, she was quite healthy and rarely got sick, which she remembered being true since she was a child. It was evident that the Giovanni family put a lot of effort into maintaining her health.
Sebastian began. โAndโฆโ
โHmm? Anything else? Could it be something worse?โ
โDonโt dwell on it. You know, no matter what happens, I will always be with you.โ
โGot it,โ she said sweetly.
After they washed up together, they went downstairs and heard Lottie talking to the butler. The butler asked, โHow should we send this message?โ
Both Sebastian and Stephanie felt puzzled.
Lottie thought for a moment and said, โJust send, โMy darling daughter-in-law has finally grown up, and Iโll forward you the photo for it.โโ
Stephanie and Sebastian exchanged a glance.
