Chapter 567

Stephanie winced and covered her aching forehead. The butler hurried over. โ€œMs. Giovanni, let me see if youโ€™re okay.โ€

โ€œIt hurts a bit,โ€ Stephanie said. It really did. She moved her hand, and the butler saw a red mark.

The butler was stunned, thinking, โ€˜Did Sofia forget that Stephanieโ€™s pregnant? If Sebastian finds out about this, heโ€™ll teach Sofia a lesson.โ€™ He quickly asked the maid to bring a hot towel and press it against Stephanieโ€™s head. She had sensitive skin that turned red easily. As she held the towel in place, she took out her phone and called Sebastian.

He picked up right away. โ€œHey, Stefi,โ€ he said.

โ€œSofia went to find Dan,โ€ Stephanie said.

Sebastian answered, โ€œOkay.โ€

โ€œWell, sheโ€”โ€

Knowing that Stephanie was worried, Sebastian said gently, โ€œDonโ€™t worry. Dan wonโ€™t dare to do anything in Fiorenza.โ€

Sure enough, hearing Sebastian say that, Stephanie felt a little relieved. After hanging up the phone, she handed the towel to the maid beside her and said politely, โ€œThank you.โ€

The maid smiled, beaming with happiness. A few minutes later, she brought Stephanie a plate of freshly washed cherries. โ€œMiss, these just came in todayโ€”theyโ€™re super fresh.โ€

The red fruit looked very tempting, and Stephanie swallowed. โ€œThank you.โ€ They looked delicious. Even though sheโ€™d never really gone without in Long Harbor all these years, it just wasnโ€™t the same as being home. It felt so good to be backโ€”everything was so familiar and comforting.

Stephanie picked one up and took a bite. โ€œSo sweet.โ€

โ€œYour mom sent them, โ€˜cause she knows how much you love them,โ€ the maid said.

At the mention of her mom, Stephanieโ€™s eyes softened with warmth.

In the car, Sebastianโ€™s eyes flashed coldly behind his gold-rimmed glasses when he found out Sofia had gone to find Dan. He turned to Elliot, who was driving, and asked, โ€œHowโ€™s the investigation going?โ€

Elliot said, โ€œIt was six months after Dan โ€˜passed awayโ€™ in Fiorenza that he turned up in Sandara.โ€

Sebastian asked, โ€œHalf a year?โ€

Elliot nodded. โ€œYeah, six months. We still donโ€™t know where he was or what he was doing during those six months between when he โ€˜diedโ€™ in Fiorenza and when he showed up in Sandara.โ€

โ€œWhat about his illness?โ€

โ€œIt was real.โ€

Sebastian didnโ€™t say anything else. If it was real, things could be complicated. When Sebastian first heard Dan was in Sandara, he felt weird. Why was he alive? And if he was alive, why didnโ€™t he go to Sofia? Those questions just kept swirling around in his head.

Elliot continued, โ€œAnd itโ€™s true he lost his memory.โ€ Although this was unbelievable, he really didnโ€™t remember Sofia now.

Sebastian took a deep breath. โ€œSend Louis to protect Sofia secretly.โ€ If Dan really lost his memory, then it was fine for Dan to stay in Fiorenza. But Sebastian still needed to keep a close eye on her.

Elliot nodded. โ€œOkay.โ€ He then hurriedly called Louis.

Since Sebastian, Sofia, and her mom werenโ€™t home, Stephanie had a quick, simple dinner and then headed back to her room for the night. Sheโ€™d been snacking all afternoon, so she didnโ€™t eat much for dinner.

She was fast asleep when Sebastian got back. He gently brushed his warm hand across her face, taking in her peaceful expression. His eyes softened with tenderness. It felt so good to have her right there beside him.

Stephanie opened her sleepy eyes. Seeing Sebastian, she smiled sweetly. โ€œYou back?โ€

As he looked at her, his eyes were brimming with tenderness. He nodded softly. โ€œYeah.โ€

Stephanie asked, โ€œWhat time is it?โ€

โ€œItโ€™s eleven. Get back to sleep. Iโ€™m going to take a shower,โ€ he said.

Stephanie stammered, โ€œAโ€”Are we sleeping together?โ€

โ€œHuh?โ€ Sebastian was confused.

Stephanie was still groggy from sleep and hadnโ€™t realized yet that theyโ€™d won Lottieโ€™s approval.
