Chapter 566

Sofia didn’t understand why Sebastian had asked her to marry Richard. But if she could get the document back, she could do Richard a favor in return. Since Richard had been pursuing that document, she would snatch it back from Dan.

“That jerk… Regardless of whether he was using me or not, he did slander me in front of Richard.” The more Sofia thought about it, the angrier she became.

When Stephanie heard she was going to Dan, she immediately stopped Sofia. “Wait. Don’t go.”

‘He’s treating Sofia like this now. Maybe his death back then was faked. If he really faked his death, Dan probably never loved Sofia. Better to stay away from people like that,’ Stephanie thought.

Sofia asked in confusion, “Why?”

“Maybe he doesn’t love you,” Stephanie said. It was a harsh thing to say, but she said it anyway. She wanted Sofia to think of herself first.

Surprised, Sofia said, “What are you thinking? What do you think I’m going to him for?”

Stephanie didn’t answer.

“You think I’m going to him for his love?” Sofia asked.

Stephanie didn’t mean it like that. She just didn’t want Sofia to see Dan again. After all, Sofia had just found him, and all those feelings from years ago had been buried in her heart for so long.

Sofia knew what Stephanie was worried about. She patted Stephanie’s shoulder. “Don’t worry. I’m not that fragile.”

“But you…” Stephanie wanted to say more.

“I’m just gonna get Richard’s stuff back. That jerk! How dare he use me? I’ll show him!” Sofia said fiercely, grinding her teeth, especially when she mentioned showing Dan.

Stephanie was still worried. “But…”

“Come on. He’s just some guy who used me. Do you think I’d die for him?” Sofia said.

At that moment, Sofia connected the dots. Amnesia? Didn’t recognize her? In her mind, Dan must’ve had an agenda when he got close to her back then.

Stephanie forced a smile. “Wouldn’t you?”

“What do you mean?” Sofia gave her an eye roll.

Stephanie said, “You’re so in love with him that you’d die for him.”

“Huh? What are you talking about? Do I look like that kind of person?” Sofia asked.

Stephanie didn’t answer. She didn’t know if Sofia was that kind of person, but she’d seen plenty like that in Long Harbor.

Back in the studio, some young girls would break down and cry while working, saying things like, “I really loved him and gave him everything. How could he love someone else?” or “We were together for three years. How could he just leave me?”

They always acted so dramatic. Even though Stephanie and Sebastian had a rough time after breaking up, she couldn’t stand seeing them act like that.

Sofia looked at Stephanie’s pleading eyes and sighed, saying, “Alright, I’ll go get the document and come back right away.”

Stephanie’s way too naive to learn this stuff. Sebastian’ll be furious if he finds out, Sofia thought.

“Why don’t you call Mom first?” said Stephanie.

Sofia was shocked. “What?”

“Or you could just call Sebastian and let him know where you’re headed,” Stephanie said. She didn’t feel good about letting Sofia go like this.

Sofia flicked Stephanie’s forehead. “You’re getting pretty bold, huh?”

‘Are her thoughts still stuck three years ago? Does she think I need their permission to go out? I’ve been on my own for the past three years, okay?’ Sofia thought.

“Okay, have dinner by yourself tonight. Be good. I’ll be back soon.” Without waiting for Stephanie to say anything, Sofia left.
