Chapter 542

Feeling Sofia’s pain, Stephanie didn’t know what to say. This wasn’t something that could be easily explained. Without thinking, Stephanie asked, “Are you sure it was Dan?”

If it was really Dan, how could he treat her like that? And how does someone just forget everything? The dad's respir… her, then he’s definitely not Dan, she thought.

Stephanie remembered the phone call between Sebastian and Sofia earlier and realized Sebastian had known about gy Sandara the whole time. He knew how much that guy meant to Sofia, yet he never told her anything.

Could this guy just look like Dan? But if that was the case, why would Sebastian share any information about him with both… Stephanie thought, still confused.

But then, Sofia’s voice suddenly became sharp. “I’m sure. Even if he turned to ashes, I’d still recognize him. I’m not wrong.” A person who has been so deeply loved could never be mistaken.

Hearing that, Stephanie went quiet. She thought, ‘So, it really was Dan, but now he had a fiancée in Santaca…’

Stephanie hugged Sofia, resting her chin on her shoulder. “So, what are you gonna do now?”

What worried Stephanie most was that Sofia might be so overwhelmed by this that she’d do something rash.

Sofia didn’t answer right away. Her body stiffened, and she closed her eyes, holding back the flood of emotions threatening to break through. “I don’t know.”

Sofia had kept someone she thought was lost forever close to her heart. Now, out of nowhere, she found out he was alive and living his own life. The person she loved was gone, and now she was the one who lost everything.

“Okay, enough of the sadness,” Sofia said.

Stephanie froze, unsure how to respond. Then suddenly, Sofia pulled her arms away, turned, and flashed a bright smile.

Stephanie just stared at her in shock. She’d never seen someone change moods so quickly. One second, Sofia was shaking with sadness, and the next, she was smiling so brightly.

Sofia grabbed the dress from the bed again and picked a shiny necklace from the jewelry pile. “This one looks nice, too.”

Stephanie was still in disbelief over how quickly Sofia’s mood had changed.

“What’s Dan got to do with jewelry? These things I gave you have nothing to do with him,” Sofia said, starting to take Stephanie’s clothes off.

The room was warm, and by now, Stephanie had already taken off her jacket. She was just wearing a sweater, but Sofia didn’t hesitate and pulled it off.

Stephanie instinctively tried to cover herself. “I–I’ll do it myself.”

“What do you mean ‘do it yourself’? Hurry up. I need to see how it looks. I’ve seen every inch of you, so why be shy? Stop covering up,” Sofia said, pulling the dress over Stephanie’s head and putting the necklace on her.

She was back to her usual carefree self like the sad person from moments ago had never existed.

Chapter 519

Seeing that Stephanie was still uncomfortably shy, Sudia commented, “You’re all grown up and still shy! Haven’t you and Sebastian already done everything…”

Stephanie’s mind went blank. Is this really something you can just say out loud?, she thought.

Honestly, for the past two years, she had really done everything on her own except for the hot springs; everything else had been up to her.

After helping Stephanie into the dress, Sofia took one look at her and nodded in approval. “Wow, I didn’t expect you, little shorty, to look this good in clothes like this?”

Stephanie thought, ‘Oh, so you’re going to pick on my height now?’

Not having it, she snorted and retorted, “I’m not short?”

Back in Long Harbor, I was taller than a lot of the girls. So why is it that when I’m with Sofia, I’m suddenly the short one?, she thought.

Sofia raised an eyebrow. “Not short? At the Giovanni family, you are the shortest. We fed you the best food for years, but you still didn’t grow…”

Hearing that, Stephanie fell silent.

The jewelry Sofia made was stunning. The rare stones, which were polished into perfect shapes, all looked gorgeous.

Stephanie tried them on, and they looked amazing. Then she saw that Sofia picked up a pair of sparkly earrings. “These earrings are huge,” Stephanie said.

Sofia grinned. “Big, but not heavy. I had them specially polished,” she said, quickly putting them on Stephanie. To Stephanie’s surprise, they weren’t heavy at all. She glanced at herself in the mirror.

“Do you think these are a little much for everyday wear?” Stephanie asked, feeling like they were a bit too much.

Sofia snorted. “Too much? I think they’re perfect. You haven’t worn anything that didn’t match someone else’s outfit in years, have you?”

Stephanie paused for a moment. “I haven’t had Ellie make any custom clothes for me in a while. All my clothes are from regular stores,”

Ellie was the Lucano family’s go-to designer, but Stephanie didn’t dare ask her to make anything for her.
