Chapter 482
Seeing Sebastian about to send Stephanie away, Jacksonโs heart trembled slightly, and he instinctively wanted to intervene. He knew well that Sebastian would act gently if Stephanie was around. But he didnโt dare say a word. Especially after noticing the displeased look on Sebastianโs face, Jackson dared not speak. He silently prayed that Stephanie wouldnโt leave.
Unfortunately, Stephanie was too well-behaved. She had beaten Chris forcefully, but she acted like an angel in front of Sebastian. โIโm leaving now,โ she said.
โBe good,โ Sebastian pinched her cheek. Stephanie turned and ran off.
Jackson was shocked and thought she was so well-behaved that he could hardly recognize her. If he didnโt know about her previous engagement with Chris, Jackson would doubt she was the same person. Jackson thought, โLook at how well-behaved she is before Sebastian. It just proves that Chris missed out on her. Itโs his fault for not recognizing people well. Olivia is not as good as Stephanie.โ
Stephanie left. Once it was just Sebastian and Jackson alone, Sebastian moved over to the couch and sat down.
Jackson was a bit nervous. โMr. Giovanni.โ
Sebastian gave him a cold look. โHavenโt you signed the contract already? Why are you still looking for Stephanie?โ Jacksonโs heart skipped a beat again. He thought, โItโs clear Mr. Giovanni raised Stephanie himself; they even think alike. But leaving Sebastian with the impression that he always tried to take easy routes wasnโt good.โ โI mean, itโs not about the partnership this time,โ Jackson replied.
In the past, whenever he approached Stephanie, it was mainly due to her connection with Sebastian. Jackson hoped to get a favor by going through her.
Jackson let out a dry laugh. โItโs honestly not about the partnership, and I promise not to trouble Miss Giovanni about that again.โ He was trying hard to clear his bad reputation.
Sebastian raised an eyebrow. โOh?โ He took a cigarette from the pack, lit it, took a drag, and kept his gaze coldly on Jackson.
Jackson swallowed nervously. โItโs about what happened at the mall earlier. I was worried Lilian might have hurt Miss Giovanni, so I came to check on her myself.โ
Sebastian replied, โFor things like this, you could have just called me first.โ
Jackson thought, โI came by in person because I was too scared to call.โ But from Stephanieโs words, it seemed almost the same as what Lilian said. When Lilian said that before, Jackson couldnโt believe it. With the past issues between Olivia and Stephanie, he had to find out the real situation.
โIโm just worried you might involve me in this matter,โ Jackson whispered.
Sebastian replied, โHmm?โ
โNo, Iโm just worried Miss Giovanni might get hurt,โ Jackson thought with some anxiety.
To be honest, Jackson had been at the top in Long Harbor for years, meeting all kinds of people. But there was something about the aura Sebastian exuded that gave him chills.
Jackson thought, โMaybe itโs because heโs the underground boss of Fiorenza, with his hands stained with blood? Heโs not someone I want to mess with. If it werenโt for that rare mineral being nearly impossible to come by, Iโd never dare get involved with Sebastian.โ
Sebastian asked, โIs that clear?โ
Jackson nodded. โYeah, I understand.โ As long as Lilian didnโt hurt Stephanie, things would be fine. Lilian was pretty quick on her feet this time. If she acted on impulse and joined forces with Mayra to stand against Stephanie, things would have gone south.
Thankfully, Lilian had some sense this time. Watching what Sebastian did to the Garcia family, no one would know just how anxious Jackson had been these past few days.
Over at Stephanieโs place, Sebastian brought her some snacks. Elliot had someone warm them up. โMr. Giovanni thought the design was cute, so he brought them over for you.โ Stephanie tried one. โHmm, this little kitty is so good.โ Making snacks look like animals was a surprisingly delicious idea. Elliot said, โThe little bunnies taste even better. Mr. Giovanni ate a whole bunch.โ
โReally?โ Stephanie asked.
โYeah,โ Elliot nodded.
