After Cecil left, Ella stood there alone, stunned and unable to react for a long time. Cecil had just said that the night before last, Lorenzo had been cared for in the same way. So that was how her clothes had been removed. Her already restless heart was now even more unsettled, especially when she remembered that Cecil said she would have to take care of Lorenzo in the same manner.

Physical cooling? Wiping his entire body? No, could this be serious? Ella thought. Stephanie wiped Sebastian’s chest with a warm towel, making sure he wouldn’t feel uncomfortable when he woke up the next morning. Just as she poured warm water into the bathroom, Ella’s call came in.

“Stefi, I’m telling you, I really can’t do it,” Ella said.

Stephanie asked, “What can’t you do?”

“They want me to physically cool Lorenzo down. Everyone around him has run away, leaving him to me, and they even said I should check on him in the middle of the night to see if he has a fever,” Ella said.

At this point, Ella completely lost her calm. “Is this something I’m capable of doing?” ‘Are Lorenzo’s men speaking without thinking? How can they ask me to wipe Lorenzo’s entire body?’ she thought. “It’s just a fever. Is it really that troublesome?” Ella went on.

Stephanie was silent. Faced with Ella’s rapid-fire complaints, she couldn’t get a word in. Before Stephanie could say anything, Ella continued, “What’s even worse is that he took off my clothes for the same reason the night before last. Is that necessary? Is there no hospital in Fiorenza or something?”

“Now I’m supposed to take care of him the same way. How could they do this to me?” Ella was completely furious. She paced back and forth in the hall, her mouth going non-stop.

Stephanie was taken aback. She didn’t know exactly what had happened. But judging from Ella’s reaction, it seemed like things were getting a bit out of control with her being around Lorenzo. She coughed lightly. “If Lorenzo is injured, he might have a fever at night. You can give him some fever-reducing medicine first. If that doesn’t work…”

“What’s even worse,” Ella interrupted as soon as Stephanie finished speaking, “He’s not short of money, is he?”

Stephanie replied, “No, he’s not.”

“Then why doesn’t he hire a servant? If he’s not short of money, he can afford more than one servant, right?” Ella said.

Stéphanie said, “You’re right.”

“So why didn’t he hire some servants?” Ella really didn’t understand. Now he had even dismissed the cook. ‘What is he thinking? Does he want to treat me like a free nanny?’ she thought.

Those were all minor issues. But what he did tonight was really too much. It seemed that because he had taken care of her the night before last, he now expected her to return the favor in the same way.

Stephanie explained, “Because the young and pretty ones would try to seduce him.” It seemed that was how the previous maids had been fired.

Ella suggested, “Then hire older, less attractive ones.”

“Those might be assassins!” Stephanie said.

That was true. Ella fell silent.

“Lorenzo has run into this kind of situation a few times before,” Stephanie said. “He got so annoyed that he started keeping to himself.”

That was the reason why, in all of Lorenzo’s villas, there were only hourly workers on a regular basis. He didn’t want to have too much contact with people who had ulterior motives.

“So tonight, it’s me who has to take care of him, right?” Ella asked.

“Yeah,” Stephanie replied. “If nothing goes wrong, you do need to take care of him.”

Ella fell silent. “If nothing goes wrong”—she suddenly hated hearing those four words.

“Can’t you just send someone over?” she asked, feeling exasperated. Stephanie was the little princess of the Lucano family; sending someone over should have been as easy as saying a word.

“Um, I’m afraid that won’t work,” Stephanie said, sounding a bit embarrassed.

Ella was taken aback. ‘What did she mean?’

“Why does it sound so difficult to send a servant over?” Ella asked.
