Chapter 438/458
After Cecil left, Ella stood there alone, stunned and unable to react for a long time. Cecil had just said that the night before last, Lorenzo had been cared for in the same way. So that was how her clothes had been removed. Her already restless heart was now even more unsettled, especially when she remembered that Cecil said she would have to take care of Lorenzo in the same manner.
Physical cooling? Wiping his entire body? No, could this be serious? Ella thought. Stephanie wiped Sebastianโs chest with a warm towel, making sure he wouldnโt feel uncomfortable when he woke up the next morning. Just as she poured warm water into the bathroom, Ellaโs call came in.
โStefi, Iโm telling you, I really canโt do it,โ Ella said.
Stephanie asked, โWhat canโt you do?โ
โThey want me to physically cool Lorenzo down. Everyone around him has run away, leaving him to me, and they even said I should check on him in the middle of the night to see if he has a fever,โ Ella said.
At this point, Ella completely lost her calm. โIs this something Iโm capable of doing?โ โAre Lorenzoโs men speaking without thinking? How can they ask me to wipe Lorenzoโs entire body?โ she thought. โItโs just a fever. Is it really that troublesome?โ Ella went on.
Stephanie was silent. Faced with Ellaโs rapid-fire complaints, she couldnโt get a word in. Before Stephanie could say anything, Ella continued, โWhatโs even worse is that he took off my clothes for the same reason the night before last. Is that necessary? Is there no hospital in Fiorenza or something?โ
โNow Iโm supposed to take care of him the same way. How could they do this to me?โ Ella was completely furious. She paced back and forth in the hall, her mouth going non-stop.
Stephanie was taken aback. She didnโt know exactly what had happened. But judging from Ellaโs reaction, it seemed like things were getting a bit out of control with her being around Lorenzo. She coughed lightly. โIf Lorenzo is injured, he might have a fever at night. You can give him some fever-reducing medicine first. If that doesnโt workโฆโ
โWhatโs even worse,โ Ella interrupted as soon as Stephanie finished speaking, โHeโs not short of money, is he?โ
Stephanie replied, โNo, heโs not.โ
โThen why doesnโt he hire a servant? If heโs not short of money, he can afford more than one servant, right?โ Ella said.
Stรฉphanie said, โYouโre right.โ
โSo why didnโt he hire some servants?โ Ella really didnโt understand. Now he had even dismissed the cook. โWhat is he thinking? Does he want to treat me like a free nanny?โ she thought.
Those were all minor issues. But what he did tonight was really too much. It seemed that because he had taken care of her the night before last, he now expected her to return the favor in the same way.
Stephanie explained, โBecause the young and pretty ones would try to seduce him.โ It seemed that was how the previous maids had been fired.
Ella suggested, โThen hire older, less attractive ones.โ
โThose might be assassins!โ Stephanie said.
That was true. Ella fell silent.
โLorenzo has run into this kind of situation a few times before,โ Stephanie said. โHe got so annoyed that he started keeping to himself.โ
That was the reason why, in all of Lorenzoโs villas, there were only hourly workers on a regular basis. He didnโt want to have too much contact with people who had ulterior motives.
โSo tonight, itโs me who has to take care of him, right?โ Ella asked.
โYeah,โ Stephanie replied. โIf nothing goes wrong, you do need to take care of him.โ
Ella fell silent. โIf nothing goes wrongโโshe suddenly hated hearing those four words.
โCanโt you just send someone over?โ she asked, feeling exasperated. Stephanie was the little princess of the Lucano family; sending someone over should have been as easy as saying a word.
โUm, Iโm afraid that wonโt work,โ Stephanie said, sounding a bit embarrassed.
Ella was taken aback. โWhat did she mean?โ
โWhy does it sound so difficult to send a servant over?โ Ella asked.
