Chris’s face turned a little pale. Despite mentally preparing before meeting Stephanie, her demeanor still disturbed him.

Stephanie said, “Can you move the car, or should I just drive through it?” The phrase “drive through” came out as casually as if she were talking about the weather.

Chris said, “He came to the Ashford residence with a paternity test that matched my father. Stephanie, I know you hate me, but you shouldn’t…” Chris paused, the pain in his eyes intensifying as he looked at Stephanie. “You shouldn’t have taken revenge on me like this.”

Stephanie sneered, “You think I hate you?”

“Isn’t it?”

“I think you’re out of your mind. Hate? Don’t flatter yourself. Love and hate, those are things only Olivia might feel for you. Who else would even care about you?” Stephanie said dismissively. Hate was something that existed only if there was love, and she felt nothing for Chris.

Stephanie cut him off. “Hate you? Get back at you? Do I really have that much free time? If I wanted to get back at you, would I need to do it myself?”

Just like the damage the Hart and Ashford families have taken in business lately, it wasn’t something Stephanie did on her own.
