Chapter 435

As she went downstairs, she saw Lorenzo sitting on the couch, talking on the phone. Breakfast was set on the dining table, but there were no servants around. Ella shuffled over to the table.

When Lorenzo saw her, he said into the phone, โ€œAlright, letโ€™s go with that,โ€ and hung up. He looked at Ella with a cold gaze.

Ella was already seated at the dining table, her face almost buried in her plate as she felt Lorenzoโ€™s gaze on her. She couldnโ€™t bring herself to face a man like himโ€”someone who didnโ€™t mind stripping others without a second thought. He seemed dangerous.

Even from a distance, Lorenzo could sense the tension coming from Ella. Lighting a cigarette, he took a puff and suddenly asked, โ€œDid you lock the door last night?โ€

Ellaโ€™s hand shook, causing the spoon to fall into her plate. She nodded slightly, a hint of panic on her face. โ€œYeah.โ€

Lorenzo looked at her. Smoke swirled up, obscuring his expression, but Ella could still feel the pressure of his stare. Too afraid to speak, she shakily picked up the spoon, scooped some oatmeal, and put it in her mouth.

Lorenzo asked, โ€œWhat do you think I would do to you?โ€

Ella shook her head, stammering, โ€œNo, no way, you donโ€™t even see me.โ€ According to Stephanieโ€™s information, it was clear Lorenzo couldnโ€™t possibly be interested in Ella. She just wasnโ€™t his type.

โ€œThen why did you lock the door?โ€

Ella was shocked, thinking, โ€˜Canโ€™t I lock the door? Iโ€™m a girl, right? Shouldnโ€™t I be careful about safety?โ€™ She screamed internally but didnโ€™t dare say a word. Having seen how ruthless Lorenzo could be, she was terrified of making him angry and getting herself into trouble.

Seeing Ellaโ€™s silence, Lorenzo chuckled. โ€œFrom tonight on, you canโ€™t do that anymore.โ€

Ellaโ€™s hand shook again, nearly dropping the spoon. She looked up at Lorenzo, her eyes clearly showing her frustration. โ€œWhy?โ€ Facing him was already intimidating enough. She really had to feel safe at night.

Lorenzo didnโ€™t say anything, just gave her a cold stare. His gaze was terrifying. Ella lowered her head, speaking softly. โ€œI understand.โ€ Since she was at his house, she had no other choice.

She figured she should call Stephanie soon, ask her for help to resolve the problem, and get away from Lorenzo as soon as possible.

Lorenzo said, โ€œHurry up and eat.โ€

โ€œWhโ€”What?โ€ She couldnโ€™t even sleep peacefully, and now she couldnโ€™t even eat with a bit of freedom.

Lorenzo said, โ€œWe need to step out for a little while.โ€

Ella exclaimed in her heart, โ€˜Oh heavens, I donโ€™t want to go with him! What if I encounter another life-or-death situation like before? I cherish my life a lot.โ€™

โ€œGo where? Is it dangerous?โ€ Ella asked, her voice tight with tension. Though she was scared of Lorenzo, those situations frightened her even more. Until her motherโ€™s situation was clear, she didnโ€™t want to go anywhere. She just wanted to stay in a place that was absolutely safe.

Lorenzo flicked the ash from his cigarette and said coolly, โ€œDangerous, possibly.โ€

Her heart jumped into her throat. After a moment of blankness, she blurted out without thinking, โ€œIโ€™m not going.โ€ She would die going through that kind of situation again, she really would. And she was afraid of dying.

โ€œDonโ€™t worry: Iโ€™ll make sure youโ€™re safe.โ€

Ella shook her head firmly. โ€œIโ€™m still not going.โ€ In the chaos of that place, with things whizzing by her ears, even a slight miss could cost her life. Lorenzo might dare to guarantee it, but she didnโ€™t dare to believe him.
