Chapter 435
As she went downstairs, she saw Lorenzo sitting on the couch, talking on the phone. Breakfast was set on the dining table, but there were no servants around. Ella shuffled over to the table.
When Lorenzo saw her, he said into the phone, โAlright, letโs go with that,โ and hung up. He looked at Ella with a cold gaze.
Ella was already seated at the dining table, her face almost buried in her plate as she felt Lorenzoโs gaze on her. She couldnโt bring herself to face a man like himโsomeone who didnโt mind stripping others without a second thought. He seemed dangerous.
Even from a distance, Lorenzo could sense the tension coming from Ella. Lighting a cigarette, he took a puff and suddenly asked, โDid you lock the door last night?โ
Ellaโs hand shook, causing the spoon to fall into her plate. She nodded slightly, a hint of panic on her face. โYeah.โ
Lorenzo looked at her. Smoke swirled up, obscuring his expression, but Ella could still feel the pressure of his stare. Too afraid to speak, she shakily picked up the spoon, scooped some oatmeal, and put it in her mouth.
Lorenzo asked, โWhat do you think I would do to you?โ
Ella shook her head, stammering, โNo, no way, you donโt even see me.โ According to Stephanieโs information, it was clear Lorenzo couldnโt possibly be interested in Ella. She just wasnโt his type.
โThen why did you lock the door?โ
Ella was shocked, thinking, โCanโt I lock the door? Iโm a girl, right? Shouldnโt I be careful about safety?โ She screamed internally but didnโt dare say a word. Having seen how ruthless Lorenzo could be, she was terrified of making him angry and getting herself into trouble.
Seeing Ellaโs silence, Lorenzo chuckled. โFrom tonight on, you canโt do that anymore.โ
Ellaโs hand shook again, nearly dropping the spoon. She looked up at Lorenzo, her eyes clearly showing her frustration. โWhy?โ Facing him was already intimidating enough. She really had to feel safe at night.
Lorenzo didnโt say anything, just gave her a cold stare. His gaze was terrifying. Ella lowered her head, speaking softly. โI understand.โ Since she was at his house, she had no other choice.
She figured she should call Stephanie soon, ask her for help to resolve the problem, and get away from Lorenzo as soon as possible.
Lorenzo said, โHurry up and eat.โ
โWhโWhat?โ She couldnโt even sleep peacefully, and now she couldnโt even eat with a bit of freedom.
Lorenzo said, โWe need to step out for a little while.โ
Ella exclaimed in her heart, โOh heavens, I donโt want to go with him! What if I encounter another life-or-death situation like before? I cherish my life a lot.โ
โGo where? Is it dangerous?โ Ella asked, her voice tight with tension. Though she was scared of Lorenzo, those situations frightened her even more. Until her motherโs situation was clear, she didnโt want to go anywhere. She just wanted to stay in a place that was absolutely safe.
Lorenzo flicked the ash from his cigarette and said coolly, โDangerous, possibly.โ
Her heart jumped into her throat. After a moment of blankness, she blurted out without thinking, โIโm not going.โ She would die going through that kind of situation again, she really would. And she was afraid of dying.
โDonโt worry: Iโll make sure youโre safe.โ
Ella shook her head firmly. โIโm still not going.โ In the chaos of that place, with things whizzing by her ears, even a slight miss could cost her life. Lorenzo might dare to guarantee it, but she didnโt dare to believe him.
