Chapter 428
Ellaโs question choked Stephanie. She really didnโt dare deal with Lorenzo. She said bluntly, โI canโt do it.โ Even with Sebastian backing her, there were some people Stephanie just couldnโt mess with, especially those close to Sebastian. She knew very well whom she could and couldnโt provoke.
Ella cried even harder. โStefi, youโre not helping me.โ
โAh, itโs not that; I just donโt dare.โ
Ella cried loudly. โHe didnโt do anything to you, did he?โ Stephanie asked cautiously.
Sofia always had reliable information. Since she had talked with Stephanie about Lorenzoโs impotence, Stephanie believed it was the truth.
Ella whimpered, โDidnโt you say he was harmless? How could he do anything to me?โ Lying on the bed, Ella glanced instinctively at the door as soon as she spoke.
Earlier, she had promised that if Lorenzo helped her get through her trouble, she would stop talking about othersโ gossip. She thought, โI am just mentioning it to Stefi; it wonโt hurt. Besides, the door is locked.โ
Stephanie said, โExactly. So if he didnโt actually do anything to you, why are you crying? Crying like this makes me overthink.โ
Ella said, โWell, he saw me naked. How could I not cry? Heโs uncouth, and Iโm still an unmarried, decent woman!โ
Stephanie said, โTrue, that makes sense.โ
Ella moaned even more loudly.
Stephanie offered, โHow about I send someone to bring you to the Giovanni family?โ
โThe Giovanni family?โ Ellaโs crying stopped abruptly.
Stephanie said, โYeah, youโre being hunted everywhere you go now. I thought youโd be safe with Lorenzo, but it seems like youโre not happy with him.โ
Ella was really upset. Lorenzo was always so cold; his stare was as scary as a wolfโs eyes. Just one more look made her heart shake. โSo the foster mom who raised you, Mrs. Lucano, she lives there too, right?โ
โOf course.โ
Though everyone in Fiorenza habitually called Lottie Mrs. Lucano, she was actually the head of the Giovanni family. The way of addressing people in Fiorenza was different from what Ella was used to. Before Lottie got married, everyone called her Ms. Lucano, and now it was Mrs. Lucano.
Ella said, โThen Iโm not going.โ
โWhy?โ
โYou know, I donโt have much experience dealing with older people,โ Ella said with some sadness in her voice. She grew up in a single-parent family, and her mom, who raised her, only did the basicsโraising her. They rarely spent time together. As for grandpas, grandmas, and the like, unfortunately, Ella didnโt have any of those either. She only had Andrea.
Stephanie reassured, โShe is great, easy to get along with.โ
โYeah, even in Long Harbor, Iโve heard about her frightening reputation.โ
Stephanie couldnโt retort. Lottie was definitely resourceful. But her skills were used on opponents and enemies, not on family and friends.
Ella said, โAnyway, Iโm not going.โ
Stephanie asked, โThen you should stay by Lorenzoโs side.โ
Ella felt stressed. Being around elders, especially the amazing Lottie that Stephanie talked about, made her feel tense. And being next to Lorenzo, her heart kept pounding from the pressure.
