Chapter 419

Stephanie was caught off guard. "What? Haven't you been living with Yanks for, like, a year? Why buy a house?"

The Lewis family didn’t like Allison, so Yanis didn’t stay at the Lewis residence. He bought a manor outside and lived there with Allison.

Allison glanced at Stephanie but stayed quiet.

Stephanie raised an eyebrow, inquiring, “Where did you buy it?”

“Cloudridge Valley.”

Stephanie was glad to hear that. It seemed Cloudridge Valley was popular with girls. She liked it too, mainly because the property management was excellent. Then she asked, “Does Yanis know?”

Allison replied, “No.”

Stephanie felt something was amiss. “Did something happen between you and Yanis?”

In Stephanie’s mind, Allison and Yanis had always gotten along well. Yanis was particularly nice to Allison. Even though the whole Lewis family disliked her, Yanis was always on her side.

Allison shook her head, looked at Stephanie, but ultimately said nothing.

Stephanie called out softly, “Allison.”

Before Stephanie could say anything more, a harsh taunt came from nearby. “Oh? Isn’t that Stephanie, Tyler’s little sister?”

Stephanie and Allison turned to see Lilian and a girl in a khaki coat—it was Mayra. Lilian and Olivia were close, so they had many common friends.

Seeing Mayra made both Stephanie and Allison’s faces turn grim.

Likewise, Lilian didn’t seem too happy to see Stephanie. But thinking of Jackson, Lilian didn’t dare say anything harsh.

Stephanie looked at Mayra, questioning, “What’s with that tone?”

Mayra sneered, “What tone are you expecting? For someone whose own mother doesn’t care and whose brother doesn’t want her? Even if you’re the daughter of the Hart family, so what? You still lost to Olivia.”

Remembering how Stephanie had gotten her into trouble last time and cost her half a year’s allowance, Mayra was furious.

Stephanie raised an eyebrow. Before she could speak, Allison chimed in, “The Hart family, huh? Is Olivia still considered a rich lady? The Hart family went bankrupt; maybe she’s the jinx who caused it!”

“That rundown Hart family is not worthy of Stefi’s attention. Only someone as needy as Olivia would be interested.”

Stephanie tilted her head, glancing at Allison. She thought, ‘When did she get such a sharp tongue? Yanis has always protected her so much; she has always spoken softly before. But now…’

Mayra fumed.

Allison continued, “Speaking of that, stop mentioning Olivia every time. Since she got sick, how often have you gone to the Hart residence? All you do is talk about others just to feel important.”

Stephanie exclaimed in her heart, ‘What a mouth!’ Then she glanced at Allison again.

Mayra flared up. “Do you even matter in the Lewis family? You’re just a dog they’re feeding leftovers to.”

Allison, standing next to Stephanie, visibly froze for a moment.

This was Sharon’s opinion of Allison for years. Allison’s father died saving Darian, yet Sharon never showed Allison any basic respect. If not for Sharon’s attitude, people would not dare to speak about Allison this way.

“One’s a dog fed on leftovers, the other’s a beggar who can’t go home, what’s there to brag about?” Mayra finally found an outlet for her anger, and she lashed out at Allison and Stephanie without holding back.

Stephanie narrowed her eyes, walked a few steps forward, and slapped Mayra hard across the face, a loud “smack” sound filling the air.

Mayra’s face was knocked to the side by the slap. Already harboring resentment towards Stephanie due to the arranged date with Macro, this circumstance only fueled her anger more.

Now that Stephanie suddenly laid hands on her, Mayra was furious. “Who do you think you are, Stephanie? You’re just an adopted daughter of the Lucano family, no different from Olivia, yet you keep trampling on her dignity.”

In her rage, she tried to tear at Stephanie. Macro, the man she had liked for so long, was supposed to be hers after all her efforts. Yet, Stephanie had ruined her hard-earned chance.

Mayra went wild and lunged at Stephanie. “You’re just another lackey in the Lucano family, thinking you’re some kind of princess,” she shouted.

Hearing her mention the Lucano family, Stephanie wasn’t going to hold back. Her hand flew across Mayra’s face with another loud “smack.”

And it was this slap that made everything go completely out of control. Lilian stood to the side, dumbfounded, and quickly tried to intervene. “Mayra, don’t.”

Even though Lilian was also displeased with Stephanie, she didn’t dare provoke her, thinking about the influential Sebastian behind her. Mayra was done for.
