Chapter 397

Macro was caught in the crossfire for no reason, almost losing his cool in anger.

Stephanie paused; she just wanted to ask about Ella. โ€œCan I have a quick chat with Ella?โ€ she asked. It was impossible to explain things to Lorenzo, so the only person she could turn to was Ella.

Sebastian said, โ€œPass the phone to Ella.โ€

Lorenzo replied, โ€œSheโ€™s already passed out.โ€

Stephanie fell silent. โ€œPassed out? Just how scared was she at that moment?โ€

Sebastian exchanged a few more words with Lorenzo before hanging up, advising him not to be too hard on Ella.

Stephanie looked at Sebastian with concerned eyes, still worried about Ella.

Sebastian gently stroked her hair and said softly, โ€œEasy now. Ella was probably with him when he dealt with the Dohm family.โ€

Stephanie frowned. When Lorenzo went on a mission? No doubt about itโ€”Ella would be really scared.

In the car, Ella was curled up between Lorenzoโ€™s legs, unwilling to move regardless of what was said.

Lorenzoโ€™s large hand reached out to her. โ€œGet up.โ€

Ella shook her head, tears pouring down her face.

Lorenzoโ€™s expression turned serious. โ€œDo you plan to stay between my legs forever?โ€

Ella remained silent.

Lorenzo seized her slim wrist, prepared to pull her up, but she didnโ€™t dare. The car windows had bullet holes in them; it didnโ€™t feel safe to sit up. โ€œIโ€™ll just sit right here,โ€ she insisted.

โ€œElla Turner.โ€ Lorenzoโ€™s tone was more intense.

โ€œI want to go back to Long Harbor, I want to go home,โ€ Ella pleaded and burst into tears.

In an unfamiliar place, going through something like this, who wouldnโ€™t lose it? Now, Ella just wanted to go home, back to where she grew up, back to her own house where it felt safer.

Lorenzo chuckled softly, โ€œMs. Turner, have you thought about how you ended up in Fiorenza?โ€

Ella looked at him, confused.

Lorenzo said, โ€œIf Iโ€™m not mistaken, something must have happened to you in Long Harbor, right?โ€

Ella had lived in Long Harbor her whole life, and her mother was no ordinary person eitherโ€”a formidable woman thriving in the cutthroat business world. But now, Ella suddenly showed up in Fiorenza, with people at the airport relentlessly following her. Who wouldnโ€™t think she was on the run?

Ella breathed heavily, tears streaming as she stared at Lorenzo.

Lorenzoโ€™s hand was still extended towards her. โ€œGet up. Itโ€™s safe now.โ€

โ€œReally?โ€ Ella choked out. To her, it seemed like nowhere felt safe suddenly.

Lorenzo wasnโ€™t someone who comforted women well. To be honest, he found tears quite annoying. If Ella werenโ€™t Stephanieโ€™s best friend and if Stephanie hadnโ€™t asked him to look after her over the phone, he would have thrown this crybaby out of theโ€ฆ

โ€œCome on, itโ€™s not that big of a deal for you to cry this much,โ€ he said, his patience wearing thin.

โ€œNot a big deal?โ€ Ella broke down even more. Her tears were flooding like there was no end.

Seeing her tear-streaked face, Lorenzo was at a loss. โ€œAlright, alright, itโ€™s a big deal. You were scared. But itโ€™s safe now.โ€

Ella shook her head. She had spent almost the whole journey dodging bullets. This time, she truly felt what real danger felt like. Now, when Lorenzo said it was safe, she just couldnโ€™t bring herself to trust it and couldnโ€™t even remember what true safety felt like.

Seeing her still crying, Lorenzo completely lost his patience and snapped, โ€œIf you cry one more time, Iโ€™ll throw you out right away!โ€

This tactic worked like magic, as Ella immediately shut upโ€”she fainted.
