Chapter 388
When Sebastian came in, he saw Stephanie on the phone, one of her legs sticking out from under the covers. It was probably because the room was warm, and she had kicked the blanket off after he left. Without a word, he walked over and covered her up properly.
โAlright, thatโs it,โ Stephanie said into the phone. She didnโt care how chaotic the Hart residence was at this point. As long as they werenโt having a good time, that was all that mattered.
Noticing her slight smile, Sebastian chuckled. โIs it something about the Hart family?โ
โYeah, Allison sold them some outrageously expensive medicine. Iโm guessing the Hart family is in chaos right now,โ Stephanie said.
Without Amber, theyโd be running around like crazy about getting money. With Amber, theyโd still be scrambling, but now over who got the money. The Hart family must be in pure chaos at this point.
Sebastian placed his broad hand on the back of Stephanieโs head, resting it against her forehead. โStefi, youโre just too kind-hearted.โ
To him, the Hart family deserved a brutal punishment. But since they were her blood relatives, Sebastian couldnโt do anything without her permission. Now, however, the entire family was surrounded and locked down. The physical torment and endless internal struggle seemed pretty much the same.
โWith her body already in such bad shape, thereโs nothing I even need to do,โ Stephanie said.
Originally, if Allison hadnโt mentioned Oliviaโs poor health, Stephanie would definitely have stepped in. But after learning about Oliviaโs actual condition, Stephanie decided she didnโt need to do anything.
โExactly, and no need for dirty work,โ Sebastian said.
โTotally,โ Stephanie nodded.
Sebastian looked at her and couldnโt resist giving her a gentle kiss. โDoes it feel better after using that ointment earlier?โ
โWhat do you want?โ Stephanie asked suspiciously.
โDonโt worry; I wonโt do anything.โ Sebastian reassured her. The doctor had said Stephanie needed to rest and take care of her health during this time. Until she was fully recovered, they couldnโt make out.
Stephanie didnโt believe him and grabbed Sebastianโs shirt collar. โSwear it.โ
The man caught her warm little hand and couldnโt help but give it a squeeze. โYeah, I swear.โ
Stephanie quickly pulled her hand back and mumbled complaints, still unwilling to believe anything.
In Fiorenza, Ella stepped off the plane with empty hands, accompanied by Emily. As they walked toward the exit, Emilyโs eyes darted around nervously, scanning the crowd with a wary expression. Since sheโd picked Ella up in Long Harbor, Emily had been on high alert, as if expecting trouble at every turn. Now, even in Fiorenza, her tension hadnโt eased.
Ella couldnโt help but lean over and whisper in Emilyโs ear, โWeโre in Fiorenza now. Can you relax a bit?โ
Emily glanced at her. โWe need to get to the manor quickly,โ she replied, her voice tight with urgency.
Ella raised an eyebrow. โAnd then? Youโre not planning to keep me cooped up inside, are you?โ She couldnโt help but feel a little exasperated. Emilyโs cautious demeanor suggested that she might indeed try to restrict Ellaโs movements.
Emily nodded, continuing Ellaโs fears. โMs. Turner said we have to stay in the manor on Mount Red until we hear from her.โ
Ella forced a bitter smile and felt a growing sense of unease. โWhat on earth happened to Mom?โ
โLetโs go,โ Emily said, urging her to move faster.
The airport wasnโt the place for a conversation. With one hand clutching her bag and the other pushing Ella gently but firmly, Emily hurried them along.
But despite her vigilance, trouble found them anyway. As they passed a restroom entrance, two men with caps pulled low over their eyes glared at them, their gazes sharp and menacing.
